I have a 350 engine and want to make the engine push out between 400-500 Streetable Horsepower.. I was looking into a 383 stroker kit and either the Edelbrock Performer RPM kit or the Holley SysteMAX II kit...how much HP would i get from a 383 kit and one of these kits?? I want some nice street power with all around power!!..Please any advice would be great and suggestions on other ways and/or combos that would achieve my goal..

hey Justin,
I got the stroker kit from Speed-O-Motive. It comes with new re-sized rods, all bearings, crank, several pistons to choose from and different compression ratios. Then they will also give you the rings for the pistons. If you ever plan on using NOS, get forged now, and try to keep compression down to 9.5:1. Then have a good machinist do the block work. The rods will come in already ground for cam clearance, but you'll need to notch the block some for the crank near the oil pan rails.
Cam, don't use the Edelbrock RPM cam. The RPM intake and heads are great, but the cam leaves quit a bit to be desired. I would vote for the XE268 or XE274 on the Comp Xtreme lineup. If you plan on doing decent gears and a stall in the 2500ish range, the XE274 would scream, but get heads that have a little more in the runner size than the Edelbrock RPM's have. They are in the 170cc range. Try to get in the 190-210cc range.
All that and a good set of 1 5/8 headers, a good HEI or MSD setup and a well tuned Holley 750cfm carb and you'll be set.

Good luck and happy building! http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif

Both the Holley and Edelbrock kits use really big cams to get their power. I would look into a smaller cam. Check this out... http://www.airflowresearch.com/Articles/A27-P1.htm
The heads are a bit expensive, but this is a great combo that will make plenty of vacuum for power accessories and will idle fairly well. Could also try to XE274 cam to get more top end power, but if it is a street motor this should be plenty.
