Is there anyway that I can get any kind of service record on my Z?

I know CARFAX doesn't offer anything pre-1981, but is there anything online I can get to check it out?

Nope.

If what you really want is a listing of previous owners you can request a title history from the state. If it was ever titled in another state by now those records are probably gone; no one keeps useless records for 40 years. Most states only go back 10 years and may cite privacy laws and decline your request.

If you know anyone in law enforcement they MAY be able to request MSO info from NCIC. That usually but not always lists selling dealer info. I hear that has gotten more difficult to do as they now want to know the reason for the req.
