What are you guys doing for insurance on your classic cars that occasionally see the strip? Are you doing like me and just sort of hoping for the best?

I have done some minor research for Classic Car insurance and I definitely need to get on board with this, but so far all of them I found would not cover an accident at the strip or at an autocross.

Mine is not a full on drag car but I take it to street night drags a dozen times per year. I know a lot of you guys are going to shows with VERY nice cars and running them down the strip or participating in a parking lot autocross for fun. Are you covered?

Good question - speaking for myself just hoping for the best and sucking it up as part of the risk that the hobby offers. I haven't heard of this type of insurance being offered by either my typical carrier (USAA) or classic car ins. (Hagerty) but I'm sure it's available and you can find it somewhere for a fat price.

As far as I know there is only one company that offers insurance for an accident at the race track. The catch is the event has to be an NHRA sanctioned event. Not your typical grudge night or test n tune. Of course the name of the company slips my mind right now. See if you can get your hands on a copy of the National Dragster (NHRA magazine) that's where I say the ad.

Royce,
A friend of mine at work told me about that insurance. He said it is available for individual races and is very expensive....I believe he said it's in the range of $1,000 just for weekends activities(races).

My insurance company will cover my Camaro everwhere except the race track. It's covered if I were to drive it to and from the track........on track...no coverage.....I guard rail it....my expense(and mistake) which I understand.....no problem with that!!!!!

My insurance is the same. Does not cover it at a race track. Plus I have " modified insurance " since it is prostreet, roll bar, blower motor and I pay extra for it. I have Haggerty Insurance.

Mike,
How long have you had Hagerty's insurance on your '69??? I tried to insure my '69 with Hagerty about 10 years ago......would even touch Pro Street vehicles at that time:mad:.

David,

I have been with Haggerty for about 4 years now. I did have to get modified insurance. If you want to know what I pay PM me.
