Just like it says. Its a all aluminum housing but the bellhousing I think its like cracked but its replaceable right? And I think a part of the tail shaft housing is cracked too. Is it still rebuildable? It looks brand new...

Ok so I will throw my boss an offer then. How much would you say to offer? I mean it has no potential to him he doesnt even know its there...or know what it even is. I dont want to rip him off but I dont want to get ripped off either. I mean hes just most likely going to sell it for scrap.

Offer him scrap price for it and let him counter offer, otherwise, figure out what full price would be, then deduct for damaged goods.
Tail housings can be bought and can be repaired, depending upon the damage.

Are you sure it's a M22 and not a M20 or M21? Alot of peolpe think a M22 will always have a fine spline imput and 400 turbo output tailhouusing. These features only indacate what year the trany was produced. All M22's have a straighter cut tooth gearset than M20 and M21.

Its stamped on the housing M22. I pulled numbers off and I got most of the GM bar code on it. Would it help to decode it?

You mean it's P code ends with the letter C (M22) right?

GM bar code??? Sounds like a later model trans to me.

heres most of the bar code. I think its all there. In big bold letters its GAMW then a few numbers i cant read then MUNCIE below it is 61GAM?M146313. On the bellhousing it has a stamp 22340 with a huge sideways 2 below it. The Tail shaft has a stamping 2030. It is a newer muncie its a all aluminum case. If you can decode it I could hug you :).

Probably not a Muncie, at least not a first gen. The number needs to start with "P".

Here is what a the side of the casing would look like...

and when you open up the other side.... it looks like this on the inside...

With no bar code anywhere...

Here is an example of the P code...

Im thinking its a aftermarket muncie or something? It deffinatley says MUNCIE on it and I know it had said M22 on it somewhere I just didnt spend much time looking at it or for it was too busy. The internals do look like that picture though.

Im not sure if this will help but there is no side linkage or anything on it. It is just on the top plate where the shifter goes. This is starting to puzzle me.

the gears are deffinetly cut to an angle i would say m-20 or 21 deffinetly not an m22!! as far as internals anyway

Stuff is still out there, about 4 years ago I found a complete 70 chevelle 12 bolt 3.31 posi - it was in the back of a pickup so I had to roll it out and load it on my cart and when I mean complete - it included brake drums, lower control arms(boxed) and rear sway bar- it even had the sprial shocks on it- Honest! the real kicker is what I paid for it- 29.99+tax -talk about feeling guilty!

The original Muncie 4 speed trans never had the word MUNCIE anywhere on them. How many bolts are in the side cover where the shift levers or shafts are? There should also be a reverse lever sticking or at least the shaft sticking out of the tailshaft. There will definately not be any barcode stickers on any of them.

I've never seen a GM bar code sticker on any Muncie 4 speed. But, I have seen the GM bar code sticker on the ST10 4 speed.

How many bolts does the sidecover have on this transmission?

Sounds like an internal rail shifted transmission to me. Maybe out of an S-10 or something on that order.

Pass it is. I looked around good and there are alot of s10's there too. I looked inside of the thing today and it was really torn up the casing was sheared for good reasons let me tell you. Sigh. I really had my hopes up too.

Why would it say Muncie M22 on it and not be this? Sure would have fooled me.

I know it said m22 on it I guess it was on the barcode but some of it is missing. Rough times in the wrecking yard. I guess im just going to rebuild my differential and put 4.11 gears in it instead. Leaving in less than a year anyway and my camaro hardly sees freeway...
