This winter I am looking to upgrade my wife's 69 x11 350 camaro. I am told all 350 SS camaros came with 12 rear ends with posi. Is this true? Did any come with a 10 bolt 8.5 ring gear. Her car is all original with 121,000 miles so I hate to part with any of the drive train, so I am doing my homework first. Thanks.

The only way you got a 10 bolt in an SS 350 was if it has a powerglide transmission.
Not sure what you are doing, if you are taking a plain 350 car and trying to make it an SS???

No first gen Camaro was equipped with an 8.5-inch 10-bolt. The 8.5-inch "corporate" 10-bolt started showing up in different GM models in 1971 or so. If you have an 8.5-inch, it was likely swapped into the Camaro from a 72-up X-body (Nova, Apollo, Ventura, Omega, etc.).
Here's a link with pics and other identification info:

Now if you find out you have an 8.2-inch 10-bolt, then it is possible it is OE.

And with the exception Mike noted (69 model year SS350 with Glide could have gotten a 10-bolt), SS cars had a 12-bolt (8.875-inch ring gear) rear axle. They did not have to have positraction, but they did have the larger rear.
