Today I received a free gift of an original 67 Owners Manual, Owner Protection Plan/Warranty with Protect O Plate and the original Connecticutt registration certificate. All are in good shape.
The last owner told me it came from a 1967 RS Camaro, 327, Column shift, Ermine White with Black Bumble Bee Stripe, Black Vinyl Top, Black Interior and Air Conditioning. He also said it had a bench seat with arm rest, power widows, power brakes, power steering and electric clock.
According to what I can decode from the Protecto, it also had rear seat speaker, folding rear seat, 10 bolt posi 3.08 rear end with standard brakes, power glide trans and was a 327/210hp V8. Build date was Dec 1966 at Norwood.
The car was originally purchased by a lady from Old Greenwich, Connecticutt (protecto and registration), from a Byrne Brothers INC, Virginia Road, White Plains NY (stamped in owners manual) in March 1967.
This car was rolled over several times back in the 70s in Vermont and was a total wreck (only sheet metal left straight was the trunk lid according to the last owner). He said there was no way it could have been repaired.
I have the VIN. I don't want to publish it here because one could reincarnate this car. I am willing to e-mail it and the protect-o-plate info to whichever moderator wants it (for the database and/or any research value). I would also be curious to see if the VIN has already been reincarnated on some other car.
I have a 67 RS/SS needing restoration and by chance happened upon this gentleman who wrecked it as a teen. He had saved them. He gave me the manuals since I had a 67 as well. I plan on keeping them since my car did not have them when I got it.
Question: On the owners protection plan/warranty manual, right beside the 1967 is "X55" written in magic marker. Looks like it has been there since the original purchase of the car but what would it mean??

It's probably the dealer's stock number for the car.

:beers:

Dave, can you email the into to me? I'll make sure it gets into the database. (Pictures or scans of the POP would be appreciated.) My email address is in my signature below.

Thanks

Ed

Ed,
I just sent you an e-mail with pics and a word doc where I attempted to decode the POP.
