Any ideas? alanrw Sep 13th, 09, 10:30 PM Belt is glazed or undertensioned. alan Chief48 Sep 13th, 09, 10:46 PM I have the same problem. So, if it is "glazed" how do you fix it? Brentmc Sep 14th, 09, 04:47 AM they are very cheap--just get a new one. SPARKY69 Sep 14th, 09, 05:12 AM Did you try bleeding the air out?? Tex67 Sep 14th, 09, 06:53 AM As mentioned above, how much play do you have in your belt? I had the same problem recently and found that a bracket behind my pump had broken. Fabbed a new one and no more squeal. g356gear Sep 14th, 09, 11:52 AM Belt is glazed or undertensioned. alan Thanks Alan, it doesn't soiund like a belt squeal though.....more like when you max the power steering out at the end of the stroke. alanrw Sep 14th, 09, 01:50 PM Well, if the belt is marginal, I believe that when it reaches the end, the resistance ramps up which might cause a marginal belt to slip at that point. Anyways, it is the easiest fix for openers. alan markw Sep 14th, 09, 06:27 PM If the system has air in it it may need to be purged. Jack up the front end, start the car, and turn the steering wheel lock to lock a few times to work the air out. I've heard of people driving the car onto 2 pieces of cardboard (to avoid scuffing the tires) and doing the same thing. Not sure if you need the load from being on the ground or not. dnult Sep 14th, 09, 07:45 PM Air X3 along with Marks purge procedure. It's a low zero thing to try first by any means. Z15CAM Sep 14th, 09, 09:15 PM t doesn't soiund like a belt squeal though.....more like when you max the power steering out at the end of the stroke. You will not hear the belt slipping but you will hear the Pump Complaining if the belt is loose or glazed. |
