good afternoon, last week my speedometer stopped turning 68 camaro crusie control, i replaced cables and the speedometer still didnt work wastnt even turning with the cable in my hand anyways i replaced the 19 teeth speedo gear.

Now it works again but from 0-30 it fluctuates very rapidly back and forth once it hit 30 MPH and faster it works perfectly fine, could my speed guage itself be meesed ou or not calibrated any longer due to the cable breaking before or something?

Is the gear inside the tail stock striped? Thats my problem right now with my 69.

Did you lube the cable before you installed it? Sounds like no lube or too much of a bend somewhere.

the gear on the tail shaft is metal and not plastic as its a powerglide transmission i replaced both cables new now it fluctuates at 20 and below above 20 works great,,, no kinks etc anyways i have heard in the past that over time the oval egg shape
speedometer drive sleeve piece that the speedo gear expands thus not keeping a tight firm fit as the rotaion occurs... especially at take off lol so i will replace that and see if that helps i dont know any thoughts?
