Guys, On my 69: How do I adjust the alignment of the fender with the doors? The rear edge of the fenders have always protruded out too much from where they meet the door at the center "ridge." I tried to adjust them a little (without really knowing what I'm doing) without success, and now the passenger door rubs a little when opening/closing and now rubs the paint off just a couple inches below the ridge.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, no knowledge is even worse.

I just did a search on "fender alignment" and came up with 11 pages of information that can cover your subject much better than I can. I respectfully suggest you read through the available material.

Once you get the fender aligned front to back, you add shims to the bottom bolt to decrease the "bow" or subtract shim to increase the bow.

Doesn't the fender protrude a bit from the door to reduce wind noise?

Thanks guys. It may be that it's supposed to protrude a bit, but this seems a little much. I think I can do that. What's the trick to moving it forward just a fraction to miss the door?

Loosen all 5 bolts at the door end and loosen the rad support to subframe bolt and pull frontwards :)

That's about the first time I've heard anybody mention that remedy:thumbsup:...'course it's easier said than done. Usually it's the BFH & block of wood trick:eek:

From the sheet metal checking specs in the AIM..."fender .06 to .120 outboard of door @ the fender center peak line". The .120 does seem a bit excessive, but it is what it is....
