If the plating on the mast is near perfect, and the surface rust is on the ratchet mechanism, that's an easy, inexpensive fix. I'd say $150-200. If the surface rust is on the mast, that means the original plating is gone. I'd say $25-50.

Wow, $153 for a rusty one! I guess my estimates are a little off. I've got one in better shape than that one, I would have sold for a whole lot less.

BTW, There were several base shapes used in 1st gen, but I don't remember seeing that particular shape. I wonder if it's even correct.

Nah Gary, think it's more to do with a persons perception of rust;)...that and the ebay factor was kickin in. I was hopin it'd be a sleeper...was $12 then went to 112 with 2 days to go:wacko: Thanx for yur input.

I agree Fred, they do make a nice trunk ornament tho.

Mine's a trunk ornament, too. I keep a small floor jack that came with a carry bag, in the trunk for emergencies. Actually, I looked on ebay for several months before I found a perfect mast. I avoided "Camaro" jacks due to the price. I just looked for correct looking ones, and asked the seller for the length. I think the one I got was listed for a Dodge or Plymouth.

I found one up in my loft last night that appears to be a 68 jack. I am pretty sure it came out of the trunk of my 10A built 69 conv. It is in excellent condition, with almost no rust on the mast or base. I couldn't find any markings on the base - the opening is rectangular, rather than having a short side and long side like the 69's. Being that this is such an early car, is it possible that a 68 jack ended up in the car from the factory? Shouldn't it have a bumper bracket to fit a 69 bumper?
