On my 68 I had the right side gauge light out and the temp dummy light was not lighting when I cranked the engine. All the other lights worked fine. I changed the bulbs but no help. So I checked the harness that plugs into the back of the circuit board...no problem there either.

Finally I decided to pull out the whole cluster, Ive had the car for 20 years...since I was 15 and I was pretty sure it had never been out. I thought the circuit board would be burned out or cut but it looked fine.

So with a buddies help I used a ohm meter to check the circuit and it was fine. Then I checked the light sockets and there was the problem, the bulbs were not getting contact with the socket due to 40 years of corrosion on the socket bulb holder. Wow, what a simple fix, I filed em down a fit with a super small super fine file, sprayed em with WD40 to keep em from corroding again, blew em out with compressed air and put em back in and everything worked!!

Anyway, if anyone has dash light issues check the bulb connections, pulling the bulbs in and out a few times did not do it, I had to clean em up quite a bit. Hope this helps, Im out. : )

Another item i use is the dielectric grease. They have the little packages on the counter at Autozone or your local parts place.

Pete, i read the Daily Breeze on line everyday from here. I lived in redondo on 184th St. Always watched the ballgames down at Fenners in HB.

Well you have the WD40 and file mastered. Next stop duct tape and tie wire.
On your friends Ford of course.
