My engine builder says I will need a new alternator bracket because my stock one won't work. I have a 327 and I upgraded the heads to new aluminum Edelbrock 2.02s and I upgraded the intake to an RPM dual-plane Air Gap. What bracket will I need to make it work? For some reason I can't picture why the old one won't work now...

Are the new heads drilled and threaded for stock brackets? If they are I can't see why they would not work either. Most aftermarket heads are set up for stock brackets. There should be a way to attach to the manifold as well. I have a 69 with long water pump; alternator on drivers side. Yours is different, so I'm not much help..........

I'd think the stock '67 bracket would work if you have the driver's side one I am thinking of. If you are running headers, you will need a small, aftermarket bracket that takes the place of the exhaust manifold mount point.

Now that I think of it, that manifold may not have one of the bosses required for that stock upper bracket. Not sure.

You're right Tom. The manifold does have the boss to which I mount a small bracket that gets the long bolt at the bottom of the alternator. My problem now is for some reason, the intake manifold tap for the top alternator bracket is not quite aligned. Not sure why that's different than my old intake manifold...

Also, because my new valve covers are a little taller than my stock ones (though still not "tall" valve covers), the alternator is basically at the end of the travel on the slot in the bracket. I don't think that will work.... ugh
