Okay, here's what I've got. 69Z pretty much all correct parts. The battery goes dead, so I thought. When I tried to charge it, my charger said "Bad Battery Connection". I clean and tighten everything, but get the same result. I take the wiring off the battery and then I can charge the battery fine. I reconnect the neg wire to the battery but not the pos and I can charge the battery fine. If I connect the pos wire, the charger reads "Bad Connection" again. I'm thinking I must have a short somewhere in the wiring, or a bad voltage reg, or a bad horn relay. Anybody have a place to begin?

Many chargers if a battery is under 8 or 9 volts (depends on the brand) assumes the battery is a dud and will not charge
If you put another charged battery in parrell, then put the charger on, leave for a few minutes, remove the charged battery....u make the charger thing the battery is ok, and after a few minutes there is enough charge to continue to charge

To check if a battery is good..and dont have a carbon loader...purchase a battery hydrometer..doesnt mater if charged or 1/2 charged, check each cell and see if all cells read about the same...1 or 32 cells reading way diff indicated a dud cell.

Do you have the +ve charger on the +ve bat terminal for charging?

Thanks for the info. I charged up the battery and reinstalled it and everything worked fine. Question now is why did the battery just go dead for no reason? I haven't taken the car out yet, so time will tell.

I doubt the battery went dead for no reason, unless it had been sitting there for a year.

Most likely, something in the car is drawing some current.

I agree, the battery shouldn't just go bad. It's not that old (last year) and I've had the car out a number of times this year. I did check to see if anything was left on, but couldn't find anything (I have left the lights on in the past, but not this time). I'm curious to see what happens this weekend when I take it out. Maybe I should through some jumper cables in.

jumper cables went out with the arch...one of those portable battery packs are cool...run trouble lights off them, alsorts of stuff.
