All,

Will soon order rear fenders and misc sheet metal parts for a 67 ragtop.
What are your experiences with the NPD, Ricks and the others? Can I expect them to fit properly? Quality of the metal and the shape? Cost? Customer service? (Have always dealt with Roy J @ NPD and love the help I get from them)

Any info will be helpful.
:beers:

let me suggest SUMMIT RACING....i know i know, I ordered ALL my sheetmetal from them, it's GOODMARK stuff and I was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with the fit and finish/ quality / thickness of all the pans, hood, fenders I ordered....AND SUMMIT doesn't kill you on shipping like many of the other companies!

Thanks for all the answers guys,

I have tried Summit for a pair of coil spring compressors. Let me tell you...doesn't kill me on shipping?? Well, they wanted $95 in shipping for an item worth half as much. Not sure they can help me, but I will definatley give it a try before i decide which one to use.

BelAirBob's was more expensive than NPD as far as parts are concerned.
NPD is on the eastern side of the US so I guess transport to NY and then cross the Atlantic is cheaper than if I have to add inland transport from BAB's as well.

There are some US parts suppliers in Sweden. However, they know how much they can charge for any item they sell. Not only do they want money for the purchase, the transport, the customs fee and the VAT. They also need to earn a living and get paid for their wages, the store etc.

Looking at the number of items I need, I really have to make a thourough comparison before deciding on who to buy from.

Thanks again guys.
Your input is highly appreciated.

BTW marco - not only rear fenders...Front inner fenders, rear fenders, radiator support, nuts, bolts and washers, a floor mat, wiring, dash panel, new top, some sheet metal for the floor...The list is loooong.
However, I will not (can not afford to) buy it all at once. Need to save some money before ordering, therefore the need for a thourough comparison.

i have the same problem the transport, the customs fee and the VAT
makes it very expensive to get parts to europe
your list would cost +/- 400 $ to ship to holland ex custom fee and vat

good luck

This was fun!:)

I looked at the following items for my 67:

Front inner fender
Radiator support
Dash
Full face quarter panel
Door shell

The least expensive was NPD @ $591.75
The most expensive was Rick's @ $741.95

That's $150 difference!!!

Summit wanted, for the same parts, $677.35
Did not find a full face quarter @ BAB's, but if I assume "an in-between cost " of $60 for a full face qrtr, they would land around $635.

Looks like NPD will get the business this time. $150 will pay for customs duty or some other nice parts:yes:

Based on my experience, you need to take into account the return policy, especially on that shipping amount.

Hey Mav68erick,

Maybe the project needs a name..However, all cars being ladies, what about "Project Inga";)
She'll be the only lady I can shape and modify the way I want it

I'll think of a name that is suitable both in english and swedish:yes:
