I met a guy yesterday who has this motor he will sell....

This is the info on the block. Its fresh bored .030 and not assembled yet. Has brand new TRW .030 pistons for it. Standard/standard 1178 crank. Incorrect rods. timing cover, oil pan and widage tray. timing cover.

Casting------ 3970010
Cast Date----I-25-9
***. Date----V0917DZ
Partial Vin---9N691916

He also has a intake manifold that is dated way to early for this motor, but is a nice one dated 8-28-68

One correct exh. manifold

And a set of 186 heads also fresh from the machine shop with new valves and springs etc, These are also very nice!! Again dated to early for the motor C-21-9

What is all this worth?? I dont need it but hate to see it get away in case we can find the owner of this car. Need some help pretty quick. I also posted thje block in the Tag team section.

Thanks,
Travis

I wish I did Mike... I had no idea I was going to run into this DZ motor and all I had was my cell phone to take any pics. It wouldnt even come close to taking a legible pic of the vin stamp. The owner is about a hour from me, maybe if some one needs this I can get some pics with a good camera.

I am leaning towards it being good. I would help having a pic of the pad with a digital camera in the macro mode. How much does the guy want for all of it??

Well KurtS has confirmed its legit. I did not get a firm number, but I think he wastalking around 5k Im sure thats probably a great price for the owner of this car, if its still alive but honestly I really have no idea what its worth. Give me your .02 please Thanks!

5K for the owner of the car is a steal! I paid 5K just for the matching number block for mine. My seller knew it was the block from my car so he had me as the vin was readable on the block.

$5000 for the owner of that VIN, but not for someone looking to by it otherwise.

Maybe $2500 - $3000 with everything listed??

That seems awfull cheap for everything listed...Again Im no expert on the value of these DZ motors because I have always had my original and just dont follow it. Its a good one to have though, very nice and ready to assemble.

That's what we paid for one very similar a couple years ago (crank, rods, new comp cam, oil pan/tray, machine work finished).
