Having an issue with my motor. Its popping through the exhaust. Its happening under MILD acceleration (when you approach a shift point) .... and which annoys me the most, at a steady cruise speed on the parkway.. The weird thing is, when I drop the hammer it very strong and very smooth all the way up to 6600 rpms....
Need some help and ideas... Plugs all look mint.. And idles nice..

Check for a shorted out coil or low voltage to the coil or a bad ballast resistor, if you're running the block type resistor....I had this prob @ idle and replaced the coil and ballast which solved the problem!

Could be to lean at cruise. Or valve adjustment (valve hanging open) even though you have XR288HR cam, check for a slightly bent push rod.

Ballast resistor? Not sure what that is.. Running an msd 6AL and a standard HEI dizzy..

Mike also check for vacuum leaks, bad plug wire, worn butterfly shaft and if you have a vacuum can make sure its set up right at cruise and working correctly (don't wont over it advance at cruise).
