I have 2 choices....for front wheels for my 67 camaro. 1 is 17x8 w/ 4.5 inch back space. 2 is 17x8 w/5 inch back space. I have hotchkis 2 inch dropped front end. I see most of you prefer the 4.75 back space, but I dont have that option. Which one should I go with?? Thanks in advance!

5" BS: you can always space them out a quarter or so if needed.

OK....I drove an hour to the wharehouse to pick up these wheels and they didnt have the 5" like they said they did. They only had the 4.5", so I took them....they said if they didnt work they could try to get me the 5". Do you think these will work?

what size/profile tire are you putting on them? Front and rear. i think 67/68's are more forgiving for back spacing than a 69 when it comes to big wheels/tires. you are probably ok with the 4.5"

I was researching this at the american racing website.
They say to have zero offset. In other words, 4" backspace on an 8" wide wheel; 3.5" on a 7" wide wheel.
This applies to the front and the back wheels.

4" bs on a 8" wheel would not work on the front of my car. They would be out to far. Im actually not sure I like how far the 4.5" bs wheels will be sticking out. I dont have tires on them yet to see. Thanks for your research!

I actually bought 8 inch front wheels that had a 4.5(2mm offset) inch back space. I told them thats not what I wanted but they insisted that this is what camaros use and i could exchange them so yeah. The lip of the wheel, it sits about even under the flat underside of the fender before the fender turns into the flange that the inner wheel well bolts to. So no good. Now I have a set of 5.1 inch bs (16 mm offset) coming soon.
