: Whats mine worth?

Hey guys just curious what a car like mine would go for. Completely straight body, new fenders, doors and fresh viper pearl blue paint with pearl white z/28 stripes(still getting done, not a cheap average paint job - its gonna be near show quality). Its a true RS (but I just have SS emblems). Interior is stock (standard black leather seats), power steering, manual drum brakes, sb 350 runs excellent, starts every time, entire floor, trunk and 1/4's are fatmatted, compustar alarm with power locks and trunk release, 20" chrome wheels in excellent shape. Im not selling it! Would just like to know what its worth at this point. I will be working on a custom dash, center console, and custom trunk build. This thread needs pics but my car is still in the shop getting painted! I will post them as soon as I get my car back.

Sounds nice, what year? front disk brakes are an upgrade to consider.

69. I will be doing power front disc brakes over the winter while its parked :)

IF I was to sell it right now, I would probably be asking $35,000+.
$9000 body work & paint
$2500 in new parts
$2500 for engine work (MSD distributor, MSD ignition, hvc coil, new spark plug wires, spark plugs, valve springs and push rods, optima yellow top battery)
$3500 stereo (2 6.5" speakers, 2" tweeters, 2 6x9's, JL 6 channel amp, 2 12" JL W3, Double Din DVD screen)

$35,000(would most likely break even) would this be a fair price to ask?

Hate to say it but what you have into it you will never get it back, there are many nice 1st gen Camaros big block cars/4 speed combos out there for sale for less than 30K...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320426818218&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

I would place it at no more than 23K.... Just being brutally honest with you.

options help sell these cars.... Powered Disk Brakes, Deluxe Interior, 4-speed, 12-bolt posi, gauge package with Tach...

To take CamaroDude's thoughts a step further, you have customized it to your tastes, but without power/handling/upgrades as the higher priority spending, which seems to be worth more in today's market. Your personal tastes are all that really matter, but are not the best way to peg value, as in order to sell, you have to find someone like yourself.

Value is arbitrary anyway, as it's not for sale. So, if you think it's worth $35K, then that's what it's worth.

Once you start modifying them, you never get your money back out. One of my 67's is a "hot rod" like yours. If I added up all the receipts I'd probably have twice into it than its worth. That's why I'll never be selling it I'm afraid... it'll go to my youngest stepson (23) once he's "earned" it. :p

As is said here many times ..JMO. Never use Ebay as a standard. I've looked at a few automobiles being sold through ebay auction, it's a small percentage that live up to the write up. Those that do will sell for what they are worth. Again IMO.

Very true. Im not expecting to get every dollar back that I put into this car, but i've built it to MY tastes, therefor I wont be selling it (anytime soon). I hope that I can keep it long enough to pass it on to my kids. Just wanted to know roughly what it is worth. I will be getting it appraised once the paint and brakes are all done, and I have some minor interior work (console, dash pad, and trunk build) to do before I get it appraised. Just wanna have a rough idea what I should expect to see. No pics yet. Sorry guys, I will post them as soon as I get it outta the shop. Thanks!
