My friend is restoring his relatively original 69 Yutivo RS, as usual no hidden VINS on the body, but under where the hidden VIN is placed (at the heater) some numbers are stamped in the sheet metal. It looks like K49R, what would these numbers mean, date code?
Thanks

Sheetmetal Date Code Format
Sheetmetal was stamped with a Fisher Body "run number" by the stamping plant that produced the part. Almost every panel on the body will have a run number. The format is M08. The first letter identifies the stamping plant, and the number is the week of the calendar year when the panel was stamped.
Not sure what the extra letter is, sometimes I see that. Maybe 'right'?

So this would be week 49 of 1968.
Other numbers from the car is rear end: BC1217G2 which would be December, engine K1210BE, again December 68, transmission K8K9, which is a bit of a mystery
