Learn something new everyday but seems we would have seen it before if these were really out there, so I'll say it's not real. I'd be curious to know what, if any, car came off the floor with hood-pins. Maybe the 442?

442s had locks, not pins. Chevelles, Rambler/Scramblers, Challengers, Superbirds, Mach 1..............Hoodpins

Not real.

Regarding the pins question-- The infamous Heavy Chevy came with hood pins, and I believe SS Chevelles from '71 - '72 could also get them. I've also seen an LS-6 Chevelle with pins, but am fairly certain that they weren't available.

I think the 442 kinda had pins on their fiberglas hoods-- Pseudo-pins that locked with a twist. The '71 - '73 Mach1 had pseudo-pins with external locks also.

Shelby Mustangs had true hood pins, as well as the AC Cobra.

Roadrunners with fiberglas hoods had pins, as well as the fiberglas hoods on Cudas and Challengers.

That's about all I've got. If I've missed any, or am incorrect, please publically slap me in the mullet.

Bill, an original fiberglass crossram hood is worth a few bones, but you need to check it out closely before plucking down your money. First, get Wayne Guinn's book "Camaro Untold Secrets" and start with page 96. Second, if you're seriously looking into buying it, you might want to get Jerry involved. Third, post a TON of pictures here so we can look at it.

There was one on a 68 Camaro race car out of cali a few years ago... the car sold on ebay but the hood didn't go with the car... the car/hood was light metallic blue.

I have a video tape of a Daytona Yellow Z that had a fiberglass cross ram hood on it from about 10 years or so ago give or take. The dealer was called "Classic Covettes & Collectibles" in Tarpon Springs Florida & I was considering buying the car back then so they sent me the video.

I am not 100% sure, but I want say I remember Charley saying some years ago, he knew the guy that bought the car and there turned out to be some issues with it but I don;t remember if he said what it was. Then again it might have been the Garrnet red crossram Z they had at the time he referenced. It's been to long ago, Charley do you remember this or am I way off base?? :o

I might try & look for the video and see if I can record it with our video camera and try and upload it if you guys would like to see it. :)

Look at the rear edge of the scoop section of the hood that would hang over the cowl. If there is a vertical lip there on the underside, about 1/4" tall theres a possibility its real. No lip definately means repro. The hood should also have inner stiffeners as well as an area to real to the oval crossram air cleaner. There are no GM part numbers or identifying marks on them.
