I want to upgrade my camel humps, and want to go with a set of vortecs. Have anyone used the patriot vortecs or how about the EQ sledgehammer vortecs, and what intake manifold are you using with them. Been looking at the patriot vortecs but have not head an;y success stories with them.

Those brands are China's finest boat anchors ! Get some GM vortecs or Edelbrock E-tec's or RHS ProTorkers etc.

Edlebrock has a good vortec manifold (rpm or RPM air gap) that I have on my 350 SB in my '72 truck. Scoggin-Dicky has a good deal on a kit with everything you need including the heads, intake and all the fasteners and gaskets and its GMPP stuff.

They have kits with upgraded heads with rollers, springs for higher lift cams, etc. Have fun the vortecs are great heads right out of the box.

I was going to go with Vortecs, but I am glad I didn't. Unless you already have the new intake with the Vortec pattern, keep the Gen 1 intake and go with a set of aftermarket aluminum heads, like AFR. I got the AFR 195's and they are FANTASTIC!!!!!!! The car has SO MUCH more power now and I didn't have to spend the money on a new intake. Just my $.02. Good luck with the upgrade.

I bought mine from scoggin dickey. They have .600 lift springs and cost me $746 to my door.

Go with the 185 Vortec Bowtie heads as they have the dual bolt pattern for either intake and make good power on the dyno.

There is no question that the AFR heads are "the best" that you can buy, however, here are RHS Pro-Torker heads with the dual intake bolt pattern, for $425.99. That price is for a pair (2) Bare heads, but for the money... why not ?
