Obviously the "W" is a little weird, but everything else looks good... I have a 68' MX block, and it looks the same...

A W in the vin number stamp on the engine pad is Willow Run 1968 Nova. If its a MX code 396/350 4 speed very very rare. Not lots of 1968 Nova SS 396 cars made!

Did you look at the pic or just read the post ? The "W" is the MW code. The VIN has an "N" which is correct for a Camaro. Geez, don't confuse the guy... :D

I am not an expert, but have seen a lot of block stampings.

I would say it looks good. If you look real close it appears the first time the W was stamped it was a little light. So they hit it harder the next time and that is probably why it is a slightly deeper stamping than the others. First stamping of the W (lighter W) was also a little high compared to the other characters.

The partial VIN also fits in well with the engine assembly date. I am guessing this is an 04D car on the cowl tag?

A question to further my education: It seems to me like the 6 and 2 at the end of the VIN kind of droop off low at the end? Is that OK? How would that happen in a gang stamp?

You can see the double hit of the top of the 2nd 2 peeking out to the high right...

I am not up on the price of big block convertibles. First impression was that was a little high for that car. But I could be wrong.

I don't like the VIN stamp. Not all uniform as a gang stamp should be.

Tim,

Based on the label on this thread, you probably won't be getting many people to give opinions on the value of the car. If you want a LOT of opinions, post something in the What's it Worth Section.

You may be correct. I don't know.

40,000 AUD is about 35,000 USD.
