purecam Oct 2nd, 09, 06:05 AM Obviously the "W" is a little weird, but everything else looks good... I have a 68' MX block, and it looks the same...
1968Motion427SSNova Oct 2nd, 09, 07:11 AM A W in the vin number stamp on the engine pad is Willow Run 1968 Nova. If its a MX code 396/350 4 speed very very rare. Not lots of 1968 Nova SS 396 cars made!

Did you look at the pic or just read the post ? The "W" is the MW code. The VIN has an "N" which is correct for a Camaro. Geez, don't confuse the guy... :D
firstgenaddict Oct 2nd, 09, 07:43 AM From what I can see in the photo the pad looks ok...

I agree.
bcm66 Oct 2nd, 09, 08:27 AM I am not an expert, but have seen a lot of block stampings.
I would say it looks good. If you look real close it appears the first time the W was stamped it was a little light. So they hit it harder the next time and that is probably why it is a slightly deeper stamping than the others. First stamping of the W (lighter W) was also a little high compared to the other characters.
The partial VIN also fits in well with the engine assembly date. I am guessing this is an 04D car on the cowl tag?
69 z11 Oct 2nd, 09, 09:21 AM A question to further my education: It seems to me like the 6 and 2 at the end of the VIN kind of droop off low at the end? Is that OK? How would that happen in a gang stamp?

You can see the double hit of the top of the 2nd 2 peeking out to the high right...

bcm66 Oct 2nd, 09, 08:35 PM Tim,
What is the asking price of the car?
TimSS Oct 2nd, 09, 09:25 PM Asking $40,000
Thanks Tim
bcm66 Oct 4th, 09, 03:14 PM I am not up on the price of big block convertibles. First impression was that was a little high for that car. But I could be wrong.
TomBo Oct 4th, 09, 09:27 PM I don't like the VIN stamp. Not all uniform as a gang stamp should be.
Garfields Maro Oct 5th, 09, 03:34 AM I am not up on the price of big block convertibles. First impression was that was a little high for that car. But I could be wrong.
I'd guess the 40K is AUS $ ....
Everett#2390 Oct 5th, 09, 04:59 AM Looks like a nice ride.
bcm66 Oct 5th, 09, 09:59 AM Tim,
Based on the label on this thread, you probably won't be getting many people to give opinions on the value of the car. If you want a LOT of opinions, post something in the What's it Worth Section.

You may be correct. I don't know.
40,000 AUD is about 35,000 USD.
TimSS Oct 7th, 09, 02:18 AM $40000 US
Thanks Guys
