i was just thinking about tinting my windows with about 20% or 15% and didn't know how it would look. post up pics if u have em please.

15% 3M all the way around and I love it. I kinda wish the side windows were about 20 tho.......

I just had my back window done at 20% while it was out.
My side windows are always open.

Joe the car looks very nice. When you had your windows tinted did you put the sticker that says what percentage they were. When I did mine I didnt put the sticker on mine. The new law in Texas as of 9-1-09 is they will be giving tickets if the tint is to dark. I guess I will wait and see what happens if I get pulled over.

Yeah I never put the sticker on mine either. I haven't had any run-ins with the law yet. I've been stopped twice....once for a non-working turn signal light, the other for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign.....and have had no questioning on the tint.....not even a ticket for what I did wrong! Shoot, most cops are pretty cool and if your not giving them an excuse to pull you over as in speeding, reckless driving, or putting you or other people in direct danger.....9 out of 10 cops won't have a problem with it......prolly just because your driving a kick *** car. :D

BTW....it even passed inspection with 13.5% tint. the inspector told me it was exempt, but I think he was wrong. I believe it's 20% for 88 and earlier, and 25% for 89 and later.....something along those lines.

4% all the way around. Hey, funny thing is I just got a ticket 3 days ago for the tint on my truck! I was lucky enough that they told me if I take it off the would drop the charge. So I ripped it off! But never on the Camaro, I love it!

13.5% is what my windows measured at. The film was rated at 15%, but it was actually measured at 13.5 with a tint meter. It is a tool that is used to measure the percentage of light that can pass thru tinted glass. It is called a Tint Meter. Most police carry one with them.

Thx Joe, I always wondered what was legit and how that is determined. I have an 06 Toyota Tacoma I bought out of Florida and the window tint is very dark. Thought it might draw the attention of johnny law but so far they dont seem to think much of it.

my g.f.'s sister is dreading her drive back to Vegas because she's having a bad spell of migrain headachs. She wants to get tinted windows before she drives back so I told her I'd find out what the laws were today. Any Calif. guys know the law. short of that, Google here I come.

I'd tint them they'll look good.

thanks for all the replies guys. i plan on tinting them soon when i get mine back on the road. during the summer it wouldn't do me any good since there always down anyway but i'll get them tinted just in time for winter.

I've been thinking of getting 15% or 20% lately and was wondering whats the basic price to do everything but the windsheild? I know its going to vary as where I go to but I've never got any vehicle tinted and don't want to get ripped off.

My wifes 09 Accord was $200-$250,Her last car (99 Monte) was about the same.

I wouldn't think a similar sized car (glass anyway) would be any more.

Just bought the car....i'll have to ask the previous owner what the tint is?

I think CA law is side windows must allow 70% of light in. For the front window only the very top can be tinted slightly. No restriction on rear windows.

Thanks! I'm gonna go check a local place and see what they say. I'm still not sure if I want to get em right now or not. I know it will help alot in the summer when its parked but as long as its slightly warm I've always got the windows down while cruising anyway. So mostly I want it to keep the heat out during the summer and so that people can't just look right in and easily see whats inside.
