The factory runs a coolant line from the radiator through the throttle body to aid cold operation. A lot of people bypass the throttle body with the line by either tieing the two hoses together with a connector or running a new hose around the throttle body. It would help performance when hot; anytime you can cool the intake air temp it helps and without the hot water running through it it would be cooler. I doubt that it's a 20 h.p. difference though.

A good site to check out is www.tpis.com (http://www.tpis.com)

Hey, here are a few things you can do to iimprove horsepower, at the track you can remove the whole air box assymbly for a 2 tenth of a second drop in you time. Or yoou can buy a moroso or k/n cold air induction kit for about $180, you can get a tpis throttle body air foil for $49 that will give you around 15 horsepower. Your best bet is to buy headers and full exaust a cold air kit and a set of BF goodwrich drag radials to improve your 1/4 mile times and horse power

You can by a hypertech power programmer III and add 10-15 percent more hp. The programmer changes shift points, shift firmness, top speed, timing, fuel curve to name a few. Its about three hundred dollars but adds the same power gains as a full exhaust system. Summit sells them and any speed shop should have them too.

Thanks guys.. yeah i found that hard to believe about the 20 HP myself either.. but one more question.. i was lookin throught JC Whitney last night and i noticed that they sold performance mass air flow sensors too for like 320 bucks.. but i looked at it.. it looks just like the factory one except its missin the screen.. would just removing the screen from the factory one work.. i dont want to do this and mess up anything that could actually make it worse.. i think the only way to remove the screen would be cut it out also.. so.. i know its costs the pretty penny if i were to mess it up and get a new one

There performance ones have a larger bore to alow more air flow and are desinged to make the computer run a little bit rich. You can bye alot of stuff that will give you more performance for less bucks. Like that programmer cost about 300-350 and adds a lot more power. See when GM programs the computers they hold back alot. Tuning the computer is like tuning a carb. A twist hear or there can make a big differnce. My friend used one for his truck and now it snaps your neck back when he stabs the gas. Its your money im just telling you what ive seen.

oh i wansnt plannin on buyin that.. i just wanted to see if it wouldnt hurt my engine if i took that screen out.. or if it caused any problems.. some dude i race against told me to do that.. i think he wants me to do something that will hold me back instead of push me forward.. so... tell me.. would that hurt my car to do that..???

no it will not hurt it at all, and u can fell the diffrenc, i did it on my 86 tpi about 1 year ago and havent had any thing go wrong. all i did was cut them out and then plucked out the leftover strands. just be careful not to hurt anything inside

I'm running a 67 w/ 350 and a 4 speed. fun, relatively quick little car. I'd have to say you're gonna get the most bang for your buck with headers, cat and better exhaust system, plus it'll scare the heck out of the ricers, and sound gorgeous at the same time. Also, look into a new airbox and throttle body, and probably even a new airbox. Once you get most of this done, take it in and check out about getting a performance chip. The thing is, the chips can be custom tuned for your setup, which equals maximum performance for your application. If you do even half of those mods you'll be tearing it up... I'd also recommend hanging out here, I'm 18, started on my camaro when I was 16, and have learned a WORLD of info off this site. Good luck, and ride 'em hard!

I'm in pretty much the same boat as you guys. I'm 19 with a 94Z. I had an 80Z before this car. I love Camaros. I'm just too damn broke to buy an older one and actually give it the work that it deserves.

I decided to put a supercharger on my 93 and it runs awesome now. I drive it to work every day so I don't abuse it or race it. I put an SLP chip, Borla y-pipe and Flowmaster exhaust, Jacobs ignition, Powerdyne 4.5lb supercharger, SVO injectors. I've spent a little less than $3000 on all my modifications and the car runs great. I think it's making around 425 hp.

I haven't started the modding yet man. I am planning on getting ceramic coated Hooker Long tubes, true duals, underdrive pulleys, cai, and all the other bolt ons. HHMMMMMMM. If only I could save up some money.
