How much is a good top these days? A mouse got into my top and peed on the folded part when it was down. The top was started to get old anyway. I eventually want to get the whole car repainted so I'm wondering if I should just wait. But that may be years away.

Depending on material (Sta-fast vs vinyl) and labor charges $1000 -$2200, here in CA I had estimates of $2200 and $1800 for a Sta-fast top.

Wow, glad my top is still good. I had a shop 15 years ago and remember prices were around 1/2 that. A very different time. To install a top right it does take a pro. Car looks good in the pics. I would think top before paint. Brian.

I just paid $1600 to put a double texture which is a heavy duty vinyl top on my 1963 Nova Super Sport Convertible.

I saw new Camaro 1968 tops on ebay for $276. I thought this was an easy replacement. Is this stuff all custom?

Holy smokes!!! I had no idea it cost that much to install a top. Looks like our 68 will need to wait. :(

Just had it done on my 68 as part of the exerior restoration. I put the first one on myself about 27 yrs ago. The parts were around $400 back then. All the parts - top (vinyl), rear window (vinyl), well liner, pads, and cables were $550 this time and $500 for installation. This was in Nashville, TN. So, around $1,000 here in the mid South.

Had my 20 year old top replaced last year. Bought the original style from Ricks for $250 or so and had it replaced for $500. The heavier one gets too thick when down, so I went with the original one. Find an upolstery guy that does work on the side like I did and you can get it done reasonable, cash no tax helps too! He had 15 years experience and did a great job. Shop around, with this economy there are deals out there. Make sure to replace the pads if they are original or the top will not look good when it is up.

Well, one of the advantage of living near the border with Mexico, is that you can get quality work in a very decent price, I replaced the top of my 67 and I was charged $250 for labor, they did great work.

looks like it really depends on where you live! In south Florida you would be looking at between $800 - $1000 parts and labor.
