I have a disk brake kit installed and I can't get the brakes to stop squeaking. The kit was from a vendor on this site and it was a good kit. The car does not get driven hard.
Any ideas? Different, more expensive pads?
thx

I made the mistake of getting organic pads on my van (cheaper). I've had it apart 3 times, each time adding more anti-squeel and checking to make sure everything is lubed properly. I've got it down to a mild noise when the brakes are lightly applied and it goes away as soon as any real pressure is applied. None of our other cars with ceramic or semi-mettalic makes any noise. If the van didn't have 110K on it I would just buy new pads, but I have better uses for that money right now. A mechanic friend of mine said "that what you get for trying to stop with compressed vegetables".

You might add a 'beer can' shim behind each pad.

Shim kit as stated, and put anti seize on the back of the pads and the slider pins and in the caliper brackets where the end of the pads touch!!
