I was wondering if anybody was running a set of Economy QA1's with a BB on a first gen. I'm thinking about buy a set for $340. Might go for the GM Pro for $450. Not sure about the spring, 450 lb enough?

We sell quite a few of them. Iron head? Aluminum head? Steel hood? Fiberglass hood? A/C?

We usually lean closer to 550LBS

Just got done installing the QA1 GM1450-1 on my 67 big block. Though I have shaved some weight off the front with a fiberglass hood, aluminum heads, intake, water pump, radiator, master cylinder and tubular A arms. I have heard a few negitive things about QA1, but so far so good. The install was straight forward and easy to adjust ride height. IMO I think the 450 lb springs are plently stiff for the street.

I have not shaved any weight at all.

Kevin, are you running the Pro coil-overs?

Then I would agree with Frank and go with the 550 lb springs.

Camaro Man, On your car, 550LB. I should have a set on the shelf.

Kevin, as long as you do not lower the car a lot you will not have issues. Only real problems surface when people think because they are adjustable they can be lowered to much. Then it knocks the bottom of the shocks out

I have the "less expensive" QA1 coilovers on my 69 BB car and went with 450# springs. I have aluminium heads, manifold, water pump, and moved the battery to the trunk. The biggest reason I went the coilover route is because they are easy to adjust and change out. A walk in the park compared to BB coil springs.

Frank, is that the Economy or Pro QA1 with the 550 lb springs? How much?

Thanks Frank that makes sense. I should be safe since I'm sitting about 25 1/2" ground to fender lip. I really like the way the car handles with the QA1's, feels firm and very stable even at high speeds. Really like your cars.
