Anyone had experience with using both caltracs and a rear sway bar on a mono leaf for drag racing?
Thanks

I have an Addco rear S/B and homemade pad mount slapper bars. It bolts to the rearend housing inside the springs and then forward to the rear unibody subframes so doesn't even come close to the slappers!!

I would think they all would be this way?? pdq67

No way it would work on my nova. Mine has the factory rear sway bar (F41 package) and it bolts up to the bottom of the bottom leaf spring plates.

Thanks for your responses but I should have been more specific.
I installed a set of caltrac bars, which replaced the bottom leaf spring plate. That bottom plate is also the mount for the shocks. I also used ubolts instead of the small bolt and nut to hold the rearend to the spring plate.
I can also install a rear sway bar which ubolts to the rear end housing and the front connects to the frame just in front of the front spring eye.
I was wondering if adding the sway bar will help in leveling the rearend at launch. There is a noticeable right rearend squat.
I'm running a sbc with 4 speed and a 4.11 posi rear with BFG drag radials 26x8x15. My 60 ft. time 1.70 and 11.70 e.t. all motor.
I can add the sway bar and try it but I thought that maybe someone's "been there, done that".
Thanks
Ken

i'm running cal tracs as well and love them graemlins/thumbsup.gif . i don't think i'd go sway bar myself, first try different preloads on the bars. say more on the right, and see how that does. also, are you running sub connectors on it?

I installed a set of subframe connectors before the caltracs and am glad I did - chassis flex was a big problem.
I have been working on different settings on the caltracs and got my 60 ft times down from 2.0 to 1.69. My right body squats about 1-2 inches more than the left (even with more caltrac preload on the right) so I thought that a sway bar would help to level it out.
Any thoughts?
I may have to just install it and take it to the track and see.
Thanks
Ken

well, there is only one way to find out. i still think the body may still have a bit more squat to the right, but give it a try and end all doubt graemlins/thumbsup.gif . there is nothing like track testing a theory. i know that the sway bar in my buddies chevelle made a huge improvement as far as handling out past 60', and really made no difference at launch. but that was in a 9 second car, and a totally different suspension as well. give it a try and let us know! by the way, what preload settings are you using?
