View Full Version : O2 sensor for older carb stuff Pauly Dec 20th, 04, 11:56 AM Hey does anyone have any experience with those rich/lean indicators by edelbrock or msd or Holley. i know the wide band ones are preffered but do the narrow band ones get the job done?? Tech @ BG Dec 28th, 04, 12:15 PM The narrow band units are not as good to use on a performance engine. You can get wide band units from companies like Innovate pretty cheap now. dnult Dec 28th, 04, 01:50 PM Narrow band indicators are only good for near stoichiometric mixtures. Even a well tuned 1st gen carberated engine is likely to run on the rich side of stoich. So IMHO, don't waste your money. Wide band is the way to go. Everett#2390 Dec 28th, 04, 05:15 PM Its unfortunate OE ECU/ECM's are not programmed for wideband sensors. Tech @ BG, Welcome aboard! Word gets out, you'll be swamped with questions. Tech @ BG Dec 30th, 04, 06:29 AM Everett, Thanks, we try to monitor as many boards as possible. |
