: Junk truck!
speedfreek Oct 8th, 09, 07:11 PM I have seen advertising from people that will come and get junk cars and pay for them. I am just wondering how much would they give me versus how much I would get if I took it to the scrap yard and sold it by weight. The bed is not on it anymore, no engine or tranny either.

lol! Do you think I coud get $100 for it?
purecam Oct 8th, 09, 09:00 PM Do craigslist... Someone may need a door, or interior parts..

it's hard to say these days, if you haul it you will get more for it, if they come and get it I would be willing to bet it's 20 cents on the dollar of what you could get if you hauled it. If someone has offered a $100.00 for it you need to be getting rid of that thing. I don't see much that is good on it.
Now you could e-bay parts and it's possible make some cash. Just depends on what's left inside and is worth the hassle. Now what's up with that old Buick Wild Cat sitting there?

JoeThat is a D.L. Clayborn, if I remember right.
A friend of mine brought it to me and I rebuilt the 455 in it. He later killed himself and his family has never gotten it from me. It has been sitting in my yard for over 5 years.
The interior is all new, it's called "Peanut Butter Swirl". It looks neat inside!
They are giving 6 cent/lb. It would have to weigh 1,666lb for me to get $100. If I can't get 100 bucks for it it's not worth my time and I will let someone come get it for me.
Everett#2390 Oct 9th, 09, 09:32 AM You might find a charity you could donate it and tax deduct the donation.

I tried that years ago with a Pontiac I swipped the motor & trans out of & they didnt want it. :noway: There is a local charity that advertises on the radio asking for donated cars running or not. Well apparently, they really only want running cars or trucks.
dbanas Oct 9th, 09, 10:53 AM That Charity scam was locked down by the IRS a few years ago. You now only get to deduct what the charity sells it for - not some value that the donor states.

Now I know you are kidding. A truck with no drivetrain, no nose, missing the bed (he said it's gone), smashed in the cowl and no rear end. Aren't you a sport?
Everett#2390 Oct 9th, 09, 01:24 PM Seeing if you were awake in class. Depends upon Goodwill store mgmt.
firstgenaddicted Oct 9th, 09, 03:06 PM Another donation idea is your local fire and first aid company. As long as it has doors they may be willing to take it (though for free) to use in training for extrication. We used to do that several times a year where I live when I was a fireman using donated cars.
Just another idea.
RichSchmidt Oct 10th, 09, 01:24 PM Lots of us were paying for junks back when scrap was high, now the bottom has fallen out of it.We were getting $13 per hundred pounds for cars 2 years ago,now it is down to a little over $5 per.I would have taken that on a flat trailer, loaded it up inside and out with all the junk I could find from local repair shops, cut the cat out of it and take any easy aluminum off it and make 300 bucks or more on that just a few years ago.Now it would be less then 200 and thats assuming it has a cat on it.
ramblin67rs Oct 11th, 09, 12:09 AM Cash for Clunkers was your best bet......

And it's way in the back yard where nobody can see it. See this is what I do to make extra money. I work on cars and sell parts. That's why I kept it this long. But I have not sold anything off of it in a while so now it's time to go!
