I'm about to install my kick panels and have a quick question. What's the best putty to use for sealing up the vent between the body and the KP?

Thanks!

I used 3m strip caulk. Bought mine at an auto paint / supply shop.

I used Plumber's Putty...you can buy it in a pint or quart sized bucket at Ace Hardware.

Do a search for more info but the correct putty is "permagum" and I got mine at Grainger.

There are a number of problems associated with the regular hardware store variety, especially if you live where it gets hot in your car. (Just got below 100 here last week )

You can get plumbers putty at Home Depot. It looks just like the original stuff they used; even the same color. It comes in a brick and you can make stips out of it; stays pliable in your hands and I brelieve it sealed mine up really well. I've washed it a few times since I did my interior and floors are dry...

Pretty sure you are thinking of electrican's putty (aka dum-dum); the plumbing stuff doesn't come in bricks that I have ever seen.

Regardless, the electrician's stuff is what you want. Sold in the electrical department at Lowes and HD, in the area where the packs of terminals and ties are sold. Comes in a block wrapped in plastic, for about $1.50 or so. Get three or so blocks.

Plenty of threads here for the searching on this topic...
