Ok if i could please ask for help again(may not be the last time..lol) I have found a nice (looks that way) 68 r.s restored, bought of the org. owner and owned for the last 10 years by the 2nd, all pics of resto so they say. the only bummer is a powerglide(factory) no rear spoiler, rallys etc wadda think its worth, it appers to be a nice car. heres the cowl tag

108
st 68 12437 los 06186 body
tr 717 l-6 paint.

thank you so much guys!!

68 Cowl Tags will not tell you much... color, interior, and build date is and it. They won't tell you SS,Z,or the like.
For that stuff you need to have the DOC's,build sheet, maybe even check all the numbers. Good luck either way (and remember there are fake DOCs out there too)

Anywho... pics always help for guessing prices.

Decode for body number: 006186

10B = Built the Second week of October.
68-12437 = Coupe.
LOS = Built in Van Nuys California.
717 = Standard Blue Bucket Seats.
L-6 = Lower Color is Teal Blue and the Vinyl Top Color is White.

Pictures of it now and the resto would help determine the value. orig engine?? Trans?? Rear??

Was this a Canadian car all it's life? If so, contact GM of Canada for documentation on the car. http://www.camaros.org/geninfo.shtml#MyCarHistory

I thought GM Canada Camaros came from Ohio and Los Angeles supplied Western US dealers. Is this incorrect? Could my '68 "Los" Camaro be Canadian?

Apex,
You are correct. I missed that it is a LOS car. It wasn't sold new in Canada. :(

Wow I am going to mark my calender. Kurt made a small error. This does not happen very often. When he does we get to tease him. Thank you for all the hard work you do for Us Camaro guy's.

Another newbie question...Why is no spoiler a good thing ? Just asking because i'm in the process of buying a numbers matching 1968 SS 350....and it has no spoiler on the trunk.

Thx

kelly, if you have a new car to consider with trim tag and VIN questions, start a new thread for that one. Its easier for folks to follow one car per thread that way. Info. on the RS option was never on tags or VIN's in Norwood or LA built cars. Some Norwood cars had X codes for SS or Z28. Spend some time at www.camaros.org reading their sections on how the tags work and you will get answers to those questions.
