I have an 82 firebird with a metric 3 spd auto. I am swapping in a T-5. The T-5 sits farther back. I have the crossmember for the T-5 but it doesn't line up with the holes on the frame. Is there an easy solution to this?

I would suggest something else besides a T-5. They aren't very good trannies from my perspective. I would save a little more cash and by a T-56. But back to your problem. I believe the motor mounts go towards the front end more with an original automatic car. You would have to pull the engine and unbolt the motermounts and move them back. This should allow you the spacing you need to get the tranny mount to line up to the correct place.
