I have a 24-ft. enclosed trailer for my 69 Camaro Z-28, and mounted a super wench in the front nose of the trailer. I hook the straps in front of the car for the wench hook and started pulling the car into the trailer. However, the wench cable interferes with the front spoiler. We stopped and took a good look, and there's no way I can use the wench to pull the car into the trailer without damaging the spoiler. We also have a 72 Chevelle and have no problem pulling it into the trailer with the wench. Does anyone else use a wench to pull their Camaro? If so, how do you keep from damaging the spoiler? I have to drive the car into the trailer, yet the purpose of buying the wench was to pull it in.:confused::confused:

The main thing I look for in a "wench" is how much :beers: they can carry ;)

Can you use the slot on the outside of the subframe just ahead of the front wheel to winch the Camaro into the trailer??? I think it would place the winch cable further away from the spoiler. Here are a couple of pics that show the slot that I am talking about. In the first pic, the slot is visible above the jackstand on the right side of the pic.........

Closer pic of the slot in this pic......located in the lower right corner of pic.

I use this location when securing my '69 in my enclosed trailer.

I must say, that appears to be a very functional and attractive wench! :D

well john,

that's the second most important thing to look for in a good "wench".

casey,

winch the car onto the trailer from the rear axle. save the wenching for after everything is loaded and tied down!!

I don't know. I will look at this position David. But i still think it will hit the spoiler.

I'm installing a tow hook in my front bumper mount hole.

A small snatch block attached to the floor about 3 feet in front of the parked car?
This would lower the cable in relation to the front of the spoiler.

ALRIGHT, ALREADY! WINCH, WINCH, WINCH. . .can't keep the wenches off my mind. Anyway, I never thought about using the rear axle housing

I'm not so sure that I would use the rear axle housing as a winching point, the frame is a much stronger place for winching, jmo. I would at least give Everett's suggestion some thought:yes:.

Maybe go through the lower valance openings ?

I put like 3 spoilers on my camaro and busted each one. So now I have no front spoiler to worry about. I have no problem with my winch now.

This one can carry a lot, but not as aesthetic...

besides wenches on the mind, you gotta have a lower sitting trailer and longer ramps to reduce the angle of incline and it has worked for us for years.

Try some axle straps looped around the front of the LCAs, where they bolt to the subframe. Lowest point of the car/susp, and that is where we usually strap them down when clearance is an issue.

Buy a couple of these, wrap them around your front bumper supports, out the valance, and under the bumper. Hook your wench :D up to both and pull gently. I use these to tie my car down in front, much easier than trying to go under the spoiler. They come in two at least two lengths that I've seen. About $12 each.
