68basecoupe Oct 14th, 09, 06:53 PM I saw a really cool pair of headlights at cruisin the coast. They were round sealed beam lights with leds on the sides like this ( ).Three prong plug for headlight two wires for leds.Cannot find them anywhere, does anyone know about these.:D
ace's68 Oct 14th, 09, 07:14 PM Kind of sounds like "halo" headlights, they have them in the new Camaros if I am correct, A lot of people with 4th gens have installed them.
I wasn't aware they made them for first gens?

I was thinking the same thing. You can find them here for a 1st gen, http://www.dashzracing.com/Lighting-Projector-Headlights/Chevy/Camaro/67-81-Chevy-Camaro-Projector-Headlights-Chrome-with-Halo-Ring-p7308062.html

T-Bone Oct 14th, 09, 09:54 PM Wow, I have seen some new Camaros and BMWs with halos and have been looking for some too!
Ebay has got lots
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=halo+headlight+7+inch&_sacat=0&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_odkw=halo+camaro+inch&_osacat=0
I am trying to figure out an elegant way to get 12V to the halo when the headlights are off.
Good post - thanks!
68RS-SS Oct 15th, 09, 01:04 PM Do these actually perform better than the avg. replacements? What's with the upgrade kit? Is it worth it and do you need to modify your elec. dist. system? Anybody got pictures of these installed?
Thank you,
68basecoupe Oct 15th, 09, 01:49 PM The ones I saw looked like regular headlights with the leds on the edge only on the sides not all the way around ( ) the guy bought them from a vendor at a show for $65 a light but could not remember brand.Looked wicked with just leds on.I may have a pic will try to post it.
ace's68 Oct 15th, 09, 02:00 PM A lot of the newer lights in cars today are HID's, they are in the new bmw's, land rovers...
If the Halo headlights you purchase are also HID's, you will need to modify your electrical system.
ddx77 Oct 15th, 09, 02:09 PM My brother has them on his 70 Nova SS. They are cool, not my thing, but to each is own.
I'll try and get a pic from him but he's not all that digitally inclined and lives 1400 miles away from me.
Lexlas Oct 15th, 09, 02:45 PM Now that's what i'm talking about, i like being different. I would really like to see someone with these on. A picture would be helpful.

Not sure about the lights but that is a wicked looking Mopar.
68RS-SS Oct 16th, 09, 09:59 AM If anything, these lights make that green machine look a little "meaner" than the stock type.
Not bad at all in my opinion.
Very intersted to see how the blacked-out ones would look.
I understand how it's easy to put something like this into the category of "tacky-tuner" but my jury is still out till I see some more. It's not like the stock bulbs are "all that" so am open to innovation on this aspect of the car and if they actually allow you to see better at night then even better.

bills69 May 6th, 10, 09:54 AM I have tried two different types, none of the above .
the ring looked great but the headlight at night was all over the place .
could not see that well
splicerslicer May 6th, 10, 03:15 PM dang, I came across those while browsing a few months back but I still haven't made up my mind about them.
DOUG G May 6th, 10, 06:09 PM Not to change the subject but...I found some Tri-Bars but they have a blue bulb in the bottom. Whats that for ???
BTW, I like the Halos...but I'd need to see them in person to be honest
Blown 67 May 7th, 10, 11:44 AM I've had the angel-eye halogen type since 2003 and they look cool when the car is parked for cruise nights. The outer ring only lights with the parking lights using a couple of 194 bulbs. The white light of the halogen is great for night driving. Had to modify the buckets to make them fit since the nub on the glass didn't line up with the buckets. I'l have to dig up some pics.
They're hard to find but are similar to these:

novaderrik May 7th, 10, 04:18 PM the only way that i would come close to thinking these were cool would be if the halo part served some sort of a function- like maybe if you hooked the halo into the running lights and turn signals or something like that...
.Bad75. May 7th, 10, 11:26 PM I ordered a pair of the black ones, just havent installed them yet xD Pretty lazy around here they look good though.
impzilla May 8th, 10, 06:12 AM Any pics of those black HID's in car ??

Doug,
Those are called city lights and they are just turn signals in the headlamp.
As far as the Halo lights go, to each their own. I was real close to buying a set (4) for my Skylark and then had a change of heart. I went with a tri-bar set up with a blue dot. You guys will have to modify your headlight buckets to get the aftermarket lights to fit and line up. I used a body saw and a punch to make the needed modifications. It's not hard to do but, some may not feel comfortable modifying their original metal like that. See if you can find a set of spare buckets.

The manufacturer claims these fit with no modifications....I may turn loose of the $45.00 just to see if they do indeed fit with no modifications.
