My 91 TPI started cuttin out, it started loosing fuel press. and quit, the
fuel press. gauge was at 20psi. Fuel pump still comes on, when I got it
home I put a fuel filter in it, (old seemed to be fine) and still have low
press. and dont run.
So my question is:
If I hear the pump coming on (its 2yrs old), I assume its still ok and dont
wanna pull the tank and replace it yet, could it be something else causing
it to loose press? the regulator maybe? Just lookin at what else I can test/try,
before I pull the tank and stick a new pump in it, since I can still hear the old
one coming on "workin".

I'd crack the return line to see if there was fuel going back to the tank. If there's only 20 psi from the pump, the regulator should be closed off. If the reg is stuck open, block the return line and the pressure should spike very high.
