I started to remove the upholstery on my passenger side bucket seat and noticed a date of 9 68 on the inside and a GS logo with a circle around it. The foam also looks original. It also had about 100 hog rings holding it on! Do you think this could have lasted 40 years?

Sure, my Firebird has all its original upholstry. Depends on where it's been kept and how much the car has been used.

Mine too. Definitly original. Maybe repaired along the way.

Yes, I have a drivers seat original upholstery in the basement and it has the GS logo on it also. That foam bun is original also.

Would there be any reason to keep this stuff? I'm replacing the springs, foam and upholstery.

Maybe if you want to make a Christmas ornament out of it or something. Or whittle the foam into a hat. That's about all it's worth.

I think alot of these cars wear their original upholstery. Remember back before the Internet and the only Camaro part were in the local classifieds or the print catalog from The Paddock? With the limited availability of new upholstery and lack of willing instructors recovering seats was a black art not a do it yourself project like it is now.

I wear a 7 1/2 Steve. Thanks!

I understand totally where you're coming from with thinking maybe there's a reason to keep some of the things we replace on these Camaros. The bun and trashed seat cover for my drivers seat are STILL on the floor in the basement. I just kicked them around the other day. I think it's interesting to see the manufacturers marks and things like that on the old parts we take for granted.
I think long and hard sometimes when deciding whether to trash a piece that might come in handy, or be an interesting conversation piece.

Gotcha...I'll probably box them up and put em in the attic. My kids can throw them out along with the rest of my crap when the time comes.
