Talk to Tom's Diff.'s in Paramount, CA (south east L.A. basically). They should be able to answer any of your questions regarding a good posi for the 12 bolt. They sold me a Eaton posi which was worked over a bit for around $520. I believe that amount of cash was well spent for the unit I got.

Auburn makes a Pro series cone-type posi carrier for the 12-bolt that is a nice unit. It will set you back about $425-450 http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif.

Thats what I went with when I converted my 3.07 open to posi....

I was told that the Eaton units are the only ones that can be rebuilt if that affects your decision any.

I believe all clutch type diffs are rebuildable. I have a Moroso Brute Strength thats seems pretty heavy duty. Around 475 I believe

The Auburn cone style posi unit is not rebuildable. The Eaton, or Moroso Brute Strength (built by Eaton) are rebuildable. If you are looking at long term investment for a car that will be driven, not babied, go for the Eaton unit. If you are looking at something short term (ie: something you may sell soon) go for the Auburn unit. The Auburn is quite a bit less expensive than the Eaton unit, but the Eaton unit is far superior in quality. I would contact either Reider Racing, @ 1-800-522-2707, or Randy's Ring & Pinion @ 1-800-292-1031.

Good luck

I know there was a lengthy discussion about posi units on Team Chevelle. I currently use Eaton unit and no problems. Also rebuildable is a great factor over non-rebuildable for long term or short because you can sell it as a rebuildable posi unit included. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/Forum4/HTML/000963.html http://www.chevelles.com/forum/Forum4/HTML/000985.html

I bought my complete 12 bolt unit from Currie enterprises. It actually uses Ford tubes and axles from a 9 inch but uses the 12 bolt housing.( best of both worlds) Mine is rated up to 500 to 600 hp I believe and cost about 2k with shipping and all. If that doesnt float your boat just give them a call, they have been great to me and others I know and may be able to help you with jsut a posi unit. I personally dont mess around with parts like rear ends...I go only for the best...at least I try! Whoever you buy from...I usually ask for references and make a couple of calls. http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif
