joe clance Oct 27th, 09, 01:14 PM its hard to go back after dropping the chassis, tuning the suspension and popping the right size 17" wheels under a first gen camaro. Plus bigger wheels have less roll resistance and lower profile tires handle much better than 60 + series balloons.
bcvet Oct 27th, 09, 04:44 PM 8 inch in rear with 275x60 15 front 7 inch with 225x70 15

Microgiant Oct 28th, 09, 09:28 AM I just pulled off my Rallys and put on some MB Old School 5 spokes and some Nitto Drag Radials. Im keeping my Rallies, I love the look also. They are going to be blasted and repainted. But I plan to drive on the new wheels mostly since they will perform so much better and put the Rallies on only for show. BTW My car was a 68 Dec build, I think in that time frame it came with 14s.
SS Sixty8 Oct 28th, 09, 09:56 AM Alright...never posted a pic...need some help.
Anyone care to help a fool out?
HwyStarJoe Oct 28th, 09, 10:26 AM Not trying to hijack the thread but I have a question about tire width versus rim width.
I've got 15"x7" wheels. I see some people run a wider width tire in the rear than the front....some do this with wider rims in back and some without.
Is there some reason why you'd run a narrower tread in front than the rear (besides more rear end rubber on the road)?
I was planning to put 235's on the 15"x7"s all the way around, but is there any reason I should put 225's in front instead?
SS Sixty8 Oct 28th, 09, 10:39 AM Ok figured it out
Still don't know how to put the big pic in the reply so feel free to tell me.
My 68 has 7" fronts and 8" rear by Wheel Vintique with their adjusted backspacing.
I'm back and forth on going to a 17" wheel but I still like this look.

I tried to go with 15x8 rallys with 235/60/15 Eagle GT IIs all the way around, but I had rubbing on the back of the wheel weel when I turned so I had to replace the fronts with 215/60/15 Radial T/A's on 15x7 rims.
HwyStarJoe Oct 28th, 09, 12:47 PM Hmmmm..... wonder should I get narrower fronts then? It's lowered with the Hotchkis 1907's in front and 2407's in back.

DUSK BLUE Oct 28th, 09, 01:59 PM I'm glad to see other people still have an interest in running ralleys on their Camaros.
The only thing my car is missing from it "appearing stock" are the ralleys thats why I wanted to see some different prospectives and you guys are all a big help. Def would say that I like the 15X8 look in the rears.
What is the biggest tire you can run on the 15X7 in the rear without looking too idiotic? I know a few of you have PM me about purchasing some and I appreciate it, I just need to decide 15x7 or 15x8.

I would say 255/60/15.
When I put rallyes on my nova project I had some old 255/60/15's that I took off of my 8" rallyes on my 67. I put them on it and they look just as good on the 7" as the 8" rim to me.

I've got 235/60's with GW 2" drop coils in the front. Because I'm running 5* caster I had a slight rub on the pass side wheelwell (rear) that a buttonhead bolt cured.
HwyStarJoe Oct 29th, 09, 11:57 AM Cool... thanks Rick.

It's a preference thing Joe... Yes, arguably a traction issue, but really it's about look and stance. What were you planning on, 235 x 60's?
69 z11 Oct 29th, 09, 06:27 PM 15 x 7's with 215/60's and 67 hubcaps all the way around:

- Wheels: 15X7 with 4" bs up front, 15X8 with 4.5" bs in the back
- Tires: 215/65/R15 up front, 245/60/R15 in the back
I would not go any bigger up front... you should be able to get a 255/60/R15 in the rear but don't rule out rolling the fender lips. These specs will keep your tires just inside the lips with everything exactly as it left the factory (drum brakes and all). Check out my profile for more info.

Its possible they are 7s. I've never had the tires off the rims. The previous owner told me they were 6".

1967 Plum Nov 1st, 09, 12:40 PM Dusk,
I am running 15 x 7s all the way around. Have 235/60s on rear and 215/65s on front.
Got the car this year and not sure about the suspension it has. Springs may be weak. I don't like the stance. I plan to install Hotchkis TVS this winter and likely go to 205/60s on front (at least those look good on my '67).
Oh yeah, my '69 is Dusk Blue.
