I just got off the phone with a guy from edelbrock. Quite interesting, and I was actually happy with what he recommended. I had posted before about my weiand 7530/750 edelbrock/1" drop base 3" air cleaner not clearing my novas hood. Well, digging around thru some catalogs I found that edelbrock has a couple of intakes that will clear a stock hood...the torker and torker II. However, he recommended running without a hood for a while instead of any of their intakes that would fit under the stock hood. He stated he didn't even know why they still carried the original torker, and looking at a pic of it I can see why. The port entries are at about a 45 degree angle to the head ports, meaning that the a/f incoming slams into the port wall at the head, causing mucho turbulence. He said that the torker II is a much better design because it does straighten the incoming mixture, but said it would still be WAY down on power compared to a "proper" intake like a vic jr or my 7530 weiand...the ports are quite small. The original torkers intake ports are dinky...like 1/8" smaller on every side. So, no hood it is for a while.

Soemthing else kinda interesting...I had also posted about what fel-pro intake gasket to use on the pro-topline heads. I just measure the intake ports...they average 1.211x2.060, meaning that a 1205 fel-pro should fit just fine. FYI.

That nice that you actually got truthful answer from the tech guy. Seems like every time I call a tech line, they end up trying to sell me something else.

The original torker, or any other X design, really doesn't work that well. However, the ports on Torker are a little larger than the Torker II, which I believe are smaller than the RPMs'.

one word of caution with pro topline heads. the ports run taller than normal and slightly narrower. at least thats how my 220's are. so, on mine the 1205 was a no go, width wise good, but not tall enough. i used a 1206, which is good height wise, but slightly too wide. it does work however. when i get my new manifold this winter, i'm just going to order a couple of pro topline intake gasket sets. this is what i would reccomend, if you have the time to wait for them. but, maybe your 200's are good to go with the 1205, but just thought i'd give you a heads up. also, because of the port differences, manifold choice matters. my old team G 7525(i think) "street ram" wouldn't cover my intake ports, since they are so tall. i looked on pros website and saw they reccomend a vic. jr., so i snagged an old style one from a buddy, and apparently the older ones are different, because it was the same at the ports as my weiand, not tall enough. i ended up with a strip dominator, because thats what i had that worked (i don't much care for it btw). maybe the newer intakes are manufactured with more "meat" at the top of the ports, and your 200's might be fine anyway, but these are just some issues i had, so keep an eye out. i absoluteley love my pro heads by the way, the different port shape in my opinion is a good design, and it sure seems to work for my 406. good luck with it graemlins/thumbsup.gif
