Ok - I give up. How do I get them off??
took the screws off and they won't budge. Do I need to remove the windlace first???

Take the screw out that holds the windlace, it is probably stuck underneath.

Kevin
Where would that screw be located? I didn't see one on the windlace. Only 2 screws on the U-Jamb seal.

I think I can see the screw in your picture, going through the window fuzzy from the center of the door. The windlace has a metal clip that runs perpendicular to the windlace. Runs along the window fuzzy and you have a screw holding it in place. Nothing else holds that u-seal on, maybe spray some lube on it and you should be able to work it loose... Hope this helps

Ok thanks!! I'll check on it with a light when I get home tonight. I thought that was only holding on the window fuzzy...

Make sure you save the metal windlace clips, not reproduced, TMK.

If I wanted to pull off the windlace entirely - to get the paint off them - do they simply pull off??

Yes, once you remove the screw, they just pull off.

:(Now that would have been a valuable tid bit of information about 6 months ago. Maybe a thread could be started on the bits and pieces that should be retained when dismantling a first generation.

Here's the thread.
Keep everything until your restoration is complete. Put it in ziplock baggies and label the baggie.

#2, when you replace your floor, save the clip that holds the E brake cable before it enters the subframe. :)
