Sure.
Itīs just that the work needed isnīt all that fun.
What you need to adress is chassis behavior.
First you need the front end to come up at launch.
Easy enough.
Just go over things in general in your front end,and make sure that a-arms aso get a set of fresh bushings aso.
Have freedom of movement in mind upon reassy, and youīll be fine.
Second you need to check stuff like pinion angle and such out back.
Same deal with the bushings.
After thatīs done you need to adress the angle-or airgap-of the slappers.
If stick iīd start around and inch or so,and if auto make the aigap smaller-down to 1/4" for starters.Donīt be afraid to cut into the snubbers.
Make alterations as you go,and try to be analythical and true to yourself when evaluating.
Trust me when i say the car WILL get faster http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif

81Z28,
Try and use a period or two next time. It's really hard to read.

I think his button is broke for the caps lock and the period. Bang it around a bit. Should loosen up. Just kidding. How about a set of BFG Comp T/A's? Size? i don't know, somewhere around 265/60s? I think those will fit fine on your 15x7s. They will not last for long if your suspension is your week point. Definatly firm up the front end. Use a stiff shock in the back. Like KYBs, get rid of the Monroe's or Gabrials. Those are for the everday passanger type car with a passanger car suspension.

Im in the dark. What are slappers and snubbers?

"Slapper" is another term for traction bar. The "snubber" is a rubber bushing bolted to the front end of the bar that cushions the impact of the bar against the leaf spring eye. You make adjustments to snubber height to dial in how the car leaves the line.

does any one know how much a crate LS6 454 is worth? I found one that has about 15000 miles on it. One cylinder has a rust pit in it and might have to be bored out. About how much is it worth?

Assuming it was a complete long block, less intake and ignition. Having never been rebuilt I could see paying between $750 and $1000. That reflects the fact that the motor has a 4 bolt block, square port heads, forged crank and good rods.

This motor had been run about 10 years ago and has not been started sence. I ask the guy how many miles were on it and he said less than 5,ooo. The motor has not been changed. It is the same as it was when he bought it crate. It just has a pit in one cylinder

go to a tire shop and see if they'll measure. you should be able to get a 8" wheel and a set of 28x10.5's ( 275/60 or 295/60) i would guess.?

Wheel spin is nothing but a waste of energy and a show of lack of proper planning. If set up correctly with that much hp. you should be able to put that sucker on its bumper. Its like putting a rocket on a toy red wagon. Just doesnt make sense.

Sorry guy, but without buying some really sticky street legal slicks that last only a few thousand miles( or hundred), get some real weight transfer and tub that monster, you need to keep your foot off the pedal.

Your car will only do what you design into it. If you want a hard launch, you got to set it up that way. Putting a 450+ enigne in a car with your currnet set up will do nothing put frustrate you and you will get blown away by 250HP Mustangs. No tricks or speical parts will help you without increasing your weight transfer and your contact patch.

By the way, what kind of rpm do you turn at 60mph, 4000? That thing must be a bear to drive on the street with that set up.

Good Luck http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif

Be safe and keep the racing on the track.

You won't find a street tire that will work very good unless you go with a street slick which like mentioned won't last.I had the same problem last year with my sb and this will be much worse with my 427 this year.It doesn't stop me from beating 5.0's it's just more challanging and fun I come on the gas easy until I moving fast enough to punch it then I'm gone.

If you don't want to run slicks, put 3.08's in the rear. It still won't get perfect traction but the car will be quicker with street tires, and you'll only have to shift twice while racing.
