I'm looking to put the "more original" Re-Pop door fuzzys on my 68 convertible. From what I'm been reading, the trim for the "functional replacements" and the more original are two different sizes. One has a flat trim and one has more of a round bead from the way I understand it.

My car currently has the "functional replacments" on it with the flat outer trim. The thing I'm worried about is if I switch to the better quality original looking felts is that I have a small paint crack on the top of the drivers side door. The trim I have now does a pretty good job of hiding most of it. I'm wondering if it will show more/be more noticable if I go with the more original looking Re-Pops.

Photos do a pretty good job of what I'm talking about...

I guess what I need to know is if there's less outside trim on the Re-Pops.

Anyone have any thoughts??

Thanks

When I was trying to find the Repops felt a few weeks ago Classic Industries was the only place I could find them. Felts for your car may be different because there is a lot of variables on 68-69 converts. You should call Classic and they will get you what you want.

The round bead will cover less than the flat. On my 69 I found the car had been painted with the trim on so there was now a little racing stripe down the door trim!

A good paint shop can fill in your paint chip. It should be very difficult to notice when they are finished. They will add paint to the chip one drop at a time. Let the paint cure and then sand it flat and buff it out. Might be a slight color difference when they are finished. I think that the fix would look better than having a chip. To those who don't know about the repair, they'd probably never notice the fix. I had one repaired on a hood once. When the guy finished, it was extremely difficult to find the repair.
