: Track Times
Drag67Camaro Jul 19th, 03, 07:30 AM After about 5 attempts at getting runs in at the track due to car failure or rain, i finally was able to run 3 times, heres my combo
350 4bolt,edelbrock 600, perf RPM intake, Comp 270H, 202/160 GM iron heads, Speed Pro 10.2:1 pistons, Hooker Comp headers, dual flowmaster 40's 2.5'', TH350 with shift kit, open 3.23, bfG Radial t/a 265/14
Runs R/T 60ft ET MPH
1st 1.06 2.46 14.089 102.04
2nd red.396 2.31 13.673 104.14
3rd .819 2.147 13.532 103.48
overall i was pretty happy being able to stay solid in the 13s, any advice would be greatly appreciated
thanks

rmcamaro Jul 19th, 03, 09:32 AM AWESOME times there! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
I'm glad to see someone posting E.T.'s. graemlins/hurray.gif
Looking at your mph I think you have the potential for at least high 12's. It's going to take traction! Work on your 60's. Slicks? Posi?
I'll be watching your progress. I'm a big fan of the now underdog 327's and 350's. :D By the way, you have a smart combo there, it's very similar to mine, the main difference being the heads. You made some great choices.

rmcamaro Jul 19th, 03, 11:28 AM Adam,
The only thing missing from your combo description is your converter. Also, what are your timing specs?

Drag67Camaro Jul 19th, 03, 02:15 PM thanks for the replies RMCAMARO, converter is stock, i dont have posi or slicks and im not really losing traction its just my car feels like it dogs off the line but then really picks up, my total timing is 38, i would like to get some 373 gears to hopefully improve the nasty 2.1-2.4 60fts, i'd like some cheaper aluminum heads with maybe smaller chambers to boost a little CR for a little HP/TQ, go ahead and shoot me an email and we can get into details... i appreciate all the help

travis Jul 19th, 03, 08:18 PM Awesome times indeed...especially with a stock convertor. Personally, before I touched a thing on the motor I would add a 2400-2600 rpm convertor, a posi unit, and then tune from there. You could very well hit a very high 12 with some stick tires, which you would most likely need with a higher stall convertor.
6D9 Jul 19th, 03, 08:50 PM I agree nice times. If the car was mine I would slip in 2200 stall/3.73's/posi unit. This should really help your 60 foot and still be very drivable!
Drag67Camaro Jul 20th, 03, 02:16 PM my stepdad and i went to the track today, i had traction problems due to no posi, when i'd shift into 2nd it'd break em loose and i'd have to let off, he has a 70 SS split bumper with a zz4,m21,342 posi and he was running mid 13s, so im definetly going to get a posi and 373s and a pair of slicks for the track, if im not in 12s then i guess ill get a 2200-2400 stall, thanks for all the replies guys i appreciate it
Thanks
Adam
rmcamaro Jul 21st, 03, 04:01 AM Hi Adam,
You have mail.
I also just read this thread: http://www.camaros.net/cgi-bin/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=006018
You are doing great for just being 16. You're way ahead of me when I was that age. I understand your situation a bit better, ie: at 16 you must be on a tight budget. Now that I know that I would again emphasize tuning your timing and carb to improve the 60' times. Have your distributor recurved on a distributor machine if you haven't done that already. Take it back to the track and let us know how that goes. That should be minimal cost.
Also, how are you leaving the line? Do you stomp it right off idle or do you bring the rpms up against the converter and then punch it on the green?

bruce69camaro Jul 21st, 03, 05:39 AM Really good times for your first three runs.. graemlins/thumbsup.gif graemlins/thumbsup.gif
I agree with travis, don't touch the engine, see if you can buy yourself a 2500 stall converter. That should help out. Also, play around with air pressures in your back tires. Are you running with or without an aircleaner? If you are, try taking it off or if you need to run one, try a taller air filter.
Good luck,
Bruce
