: Interactive JIMDAY!
JimM Nov 7th, 09, 07:08 AM Good Morning World!
It's a beautiful warm sunny autumn day in chicagoland, and I've got lots of activities planned. Shortly I'll be out in the garage for activity one, troubleshooting and repairing what appears to be a failed "blend door" in the heating system of Dann's 03 Malibu.
The webcam is on at http://www.jimragtop.com:12000
user is team
p/w is camaro
you have to install the active x control for it to work.
First, some breakfast.
You all pull up a chair and get comfy, I'll be out there in a minute.
Most of my posting will be on my blog, so comment there!!!
If anyone has the slightest idea where to find the heater temperature blend motor on an 03 malibu, pas the info on, otherwise I'll be taking stuff apart until I find it.
Everett#2390 Nov 7th, 09, 07:40 AM First item on the list right after breakfast would be a trip to the parts store to buy a Haynes manual to at least have some guidance where to look, if it were me.
Blend doors and their electric actuators are usually between the box and firewall. But I would think through engineering, replacement of a motor would be an easier job, better access. But not always the case......maybe behind the glovebox?
Good luck in your endeavor.
JimM Nov 7th, 09, 08:23 AM Manual? I don need no stee nking manual!!!!
I think I found the blend motor, now ti get it out of there...
JimM Nov 7th, 09, 08:28 AM all right, this is annoying.
Is there anything between 5 and 6 millimeters?
Damn metric crap. It's all the canadians fault!
JimM Nov 7th, 09, 08:33 AM I guess I need to go to the store and find a FIVE & ONE HALF MM tool, if such a thing exists
Wish I had my electronic tools from work at home, I have nut drivers in 32's in that set, something would turn it.
Perhaps while I'm at the store, I'll ask for a blend motor and see if it looks like the gizmo I found.
Mark turn on your damned phone so I can beetch about the freeking metric system.
BRB
john68 Nov 7th, 09, 08:38 AM Yea 5.5mm, I have in deep, short, and u-joint, for underdash work on Caddys. They
change anything, to make life difficult.
dnult Nov 7th, 09, 09:00 AM 7/32" is between 5 and 6mm. Check the manual - it probably says :D
JimM Nov 7th, 09, 10:33 AM So that was annoying.... Took the truck not the camaro cause I figured I'b be right back...lol. Autozone, carquest, napa, and 2 chevy dealer no got it.
Autozone did have a 5.5mm socket which did remove it tho, and the part I took off the car looks just like the part in the picture on autozones computer.
Gonna put everything back 'cept the glovebox, twist it to hot with a screwdriver, and order the part from autozone.
JimM Nov 7th, 09, 10:54 AM ok, mission acomplished for now. boy has heat.
Think I'll mow the front lawn just cause I feel like it, then drop the top and take the camaro to autozone to order part.

Badbird Nov 7th, 09, 11:52 AM Jim....Do you realize that's probably around a $600-$700 bill if taken to a dealership!....You're a good friend and that dude should at least buy the beer and pizza's tonight!.....Also, do you think you could drop by here and rake the leaves off my front lawn!....I mean, it's windy but not windy enough to blow those suckers out of here!
JimM Nov 7th, 09, 11:56 AM ok, I been told by Brian that our internet was down, so I reset the router, and it's all good, including the JimCam.
So pull up a chair, I'm about to rip 3 12' long 1x2's into 6 12' long 3/8" x 2's for some homemade base shoe.
This will be the first time I've used the table saw since the thumb incident. I've also replaced the blade, as the old one wasn't cutting very clean. So keep a sharp eye out for f;lying body parts!!!

Thanks Ron. Unfortunately, "that dude" is Dann, my 17yo high school senior son. The only thing that keeps him from being as worthless as #1 son Jake is that he is currently in school, getting decent grades, and has never done drugs or been arrested or gone to jail.
Come to think of it, Dann is a pretty good kid.

Oh, sorry about that!.....Well then, you think you could ask your son, Dann, to come over here and rake those leaves off my front lawn!....I'm getting tired of looking at them and it doesn't appear that the wind is blowing them away!
Come to think of it, seeing as it's 67 degrees outside, I think I'll go out and remove those belts from my motor and see what or what may not happen in regards to my engine vibration problem!.....I'll be signing off for now, Later!:waving:
Everett#2390 Nov 7th, 09, 05:03 PM Good to read you fixed it JimM.
Mark .L.W. Nov 7th, 09, 05:51 PM He should of fixed something by now..he got me out of bed way to early today...the wife said i missed out on something but now she won't say what it was. Then Jim butt dialed twice while running his noisy leaf blower in the backyard . So tomorow morning JIM i'm unplugging the phone .
Mark.

http://jimragtop.blogspot.com/
let's see, it's 9 here, that makes it seven on the west coast, that's not too early to call Mark, right?
Mark .L.W. Nov 8th, 09, 09:31 AM I sleep in to 8:00 am it was so nice.
JimM Nov 8th, 09, 09:32 AM 10:30... 72 feet of 2" base sanded, sealed, and stained.
Time to go inside and attack that staircase.
Fred Mertz Nov 8th, 09, 10:03 AM I have never been able to get your camera to work for me. Where's this active-x that you speak of?
JimM Nov 8th, 09, 10:10 AM The first time you try to get on the camera site, it needs you to OK installing an "Active X" control. Look for a security warning or a gray bar across near the top of the windows and click on it
OK, 9 steps with all the carpet tacks and staples pulled.
Now I gotta measure a bit and cut the nose off the stairs flush with the risers with a jig saw.
JimM Nov 8th, 09, 10:19 AM I need a bigger saw....
JimM Nov 8th, 09, 10:50 AM ok, 4 of 8 done. This is hard work, sweating like a pig here. Could use a smoke b reak, but I don't smoke.
Making an unbelievable mess, too.
clwilcox33 Nov 8th, 09, 05:57 PM Come pick me up! :D
lmao, on my way, keep a close eye peeled, s/b there tomorrow sometime if I keep 'er hammered!!!
