The flowmaster system works just fine in convertibles...

Hitch is the floor brace won't go back on.

Hotchkiss makes a dropped floorbrace that works just fine. Some here have spaced the stockk brace down an inch, and others have fabricated raised braces that go above the pipes.

I ran without the brace for years, and eventually got the hotchkiss brace.

Also, the flowmaster 69 system works just fine on 67-68 if you want full length tailpipes.

The problem is the factory x-brace, but you can get around that.
Here's a previous discussion that covers 2 options, http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=106147&highlight=exhaust+system+convertibles

I have the flowmaster system on mine also, spaced the x-brace down with some aluminum tube.

Some pics in my album: Exhaust Album (http://www.camaros.net/forums/album.php?albumid=111)

I went with the '69 polished tips like Jim.

Anyone got a part number on that Hotchkis X brace you guys mentioned? My convertible has too much flex.

I've also installed the "Pipes" system on a convertible and it fit and looked very nice

I also will be looking for an new exhaust system for my vert. What options are there for tail pipe exit locations? On my CJ-5 I moved the exit from straight out the back to out the side behind the rear tires. It improved the smell of exhaust in the passenger compartment when the top was off. Is the convertible susceptible to getting swamped in it's own exhaust fumes? If so, is there a "exit strategy" to combat it?

I got the Hotchkis X brace with the TVS kit and 2 1/2 flowmaster kit. Works great and gives plenty of room. The flowmaster kit with exit down behind the wheels seems to work fine for me with the top down..

I also went to a local custom exhaust shop and used the stock X-brace. They exit down just behind the rear wheels and the smell is not as bad as it was straight out the back. The total cost was about $300.00 including parts and labor, and that was less than the cost of the parts for me to install it myself. The system they installed has all welded joints except for the one at the headers. I would recommend saving yourself some time & money and have it custom installed.
