The little critters are all over the place. It happens every year at about this time, they are flying and crawling all over everything. Do other parts of the country have the same "problem"? What eats Ladybugs? Hmmmm.... Do Guinea Hens eat them?

Wow, out here people buy bulk amounts of ladybugs via mailorder and let them loose in the garden because they eat aphids, mites and other pests that attack plants like roses... Maybe you could make some money off this. ;)

I don't like this kind of sales pitches but it shows others have the same problems and there are solutions www.getridofladybugs.com

The other thought is maybe you could raise guinea hens like Click does, you out there Jim?

They are everywhere here too! Everytime you open the door they fill up the house. They seem to be attracted to white walls.

They are actually not traditional ladybugs. They're Asian Lady Beetles. They bite, and stink if squished.

Wow! No thank you! Keep your copper heads up there! :noway: I think the bugs are the lesser of the two evils, although we do have a few copper heads down here too. This afternoon I did an off road bicycle ride with friends and I think I ate a few of those buggers that were flying around.

Yep.... all over the place here. People don't believe me that they bite.
We usually see them in Sept. though. Very late this year.

Our Dept of Natural Resources introduced those bastards a few years ago cuz they supposedly would kill off the Tent Catterpillar invaders. WRONG! Now we have 2 invasive species running rampant in our state. I've heard that theres a certain spray that you can get at big home improvement stores that'll kill them.
They DO bite, they DO stink when smashed, and squishing them seems to attract more of them. Good luck.

I think you may have the wrong bug, ladybugs are not agressive though they can nibble along when feeling around, they don't draw blood and don't bite as an agressive act or in self-defense. I understand there is a multi-colored Japanese beetle that looks like a lady bug and they are quite agressive.

Intel sponsered a contest and may still be the sponser but it is basically the world finals of the senior high school science project. Several years ago I was a judge for SME on the projects that were mining oriented. After we judged the projects for our catigory I walked around and looked at all of the other prijects. One project was about how to repell Lady Bugs. The best deterant found in this project was the Eucalyptus tree. I do not know if it works but just thought I would through it out there. Good luck in whatever you try to get rid of them.

Skip,
I don't believe we have the Asian lady beetle here in California. When it starts to get cold in the mountains the native ladybugs move to lower elevations. Found this for you guys in the east, good luck out there!

They are everywhere here too! Everytime you open the door they fill up the house. They seem to be attracted to white walls.

Last year, my construction company was renovating 3 houses side by side and the middle house was white, there were what seemed like millions of lady bugs everywhere on the white house and there were very few on the non-white houses.

Dennis, I was referring to the Asian Beetle, not the common Ladybug.

Dennis, I was referring to the Asian Beetle, not the common Ladybug. Your right they do bite.... Heres a link that states the government released a strain of Asian lady bugs in our country to help protect our commercial crops.

Guys, they are ASIAN Beatles.... they broke out here on Sat. when the temps got above 55 degrees. As a few mentioned, they are NOT traditional ladybugs at all. They do stink when you squish them, they have a little bite if they sit on your skin long enough. They pool up in clusters to keep warm and mate. This is their time of year. They can squish down very flat to crawl under doors or windows or thru small cracks in foundations. They hitch a ride on you or your dog or the kids and get in the house, then they hibernate and procreate :(
Vacuum them up with a dust buster or shop vac, what ever works but get them out of your house, garage or they will be even worse next year.
And YES Guinea fowl eat them, my flock had a hayday on Sat. running all over the yard snapping them up like popcorn. :D they finally earned their keep.

I see a business opportunity for Click, he could borrow JimM's motorhome and heard his flock of Guinea across the land for a fee! For next year it could be mailorder Guinea Jim, that way you wouldn't have to travel so much... :D ;)

Yep, they are thick here in the BlueGrass. I was working on my chimney up on a laddre this weekend, and the little buggers were biting the crap out of me. Not fun being up on an extension ladder having to swat at your neck every two minutes!

Yup that's the way I understand it. Just another DNR idea that got away on them. They have been so thick here in the fall for the last 8 years or so. Like mentioned before they are attracted to white houses especially the sunny side. I don't know how they are getting in my house but they are crawling all over my ceiling, all we can do is vacuum them up.

We have them really bad in NE Georgia. I was outside working sunday and they were swarming around me. They do bite and they stink bad when you kill them. We have to put insecticide around the perimeter of every window and door of our house, and some still manage to get in. I hate them.
