...just figured I'd post a few pics. Some friends and I took the trip down to Island Dragway in NJ, ...sort of an old school dragstrip in the middle of sod farms and corn fields. It was the 1st annual Dover Dragway reunion.
We had some great weather (slightly cool), ...but sunny all day and a lot of fun...

Thanks for the pictures. I used to race at Island Dragway in the late 60's along with trips to Pocono Drag Lodge in PA and National Speedway in Long Island. I was born and raised near Port Jervis, New York so those were the best strips of the time. I also made a few passes down the air strip at what used to be Stewart Field in Newburgh. I was a member of the Hudson Valley Timing Association. Memories, how sweet they are!!!

...this is really, ...'wierd' (well, ...no wierd, ...but...anyway)... My parents are from the Port Jervis/ Matamoris, PA area, ...AND, ...I currently live about 10 minutes from Stewart Airport in Newburgh. ...small world :)

Yes it is!! We lived south of Port Jervis about a mile and a half east of I-84 on Mountain Road (I think the name has changed. That was a long time ago). I lived in Vails Gate for a year and then on Stewart when it was still a military installation. I sent you a PM with a little more detail. I would love to find my 70 Nova again It was a factory SS 396, 4 speed, 4:10 12 Bolt, radio and heater delete, rubber mat, bench seat car. I bought it from the original owner with 1,500 miles on it and most of those were 1/4 mile at a time. I would give an arm and a leg for that car!!!! I sold it to a guy that lived in Newburgh back in 1977 when I was being shipped to Germany for three years.
