My first car was a 1974 Camaro Type LT. 350, 2bbl, 4spd when I bought it. I paid $700.00 back in 1981. I wasn't in the best condition. Lots of rust. But it did have Cragers, and air shocks...LOL. I later added a cam, headers, 4bbl, and a posi rear.

The car I learned to drive was a 1975 Malibu Classis 9 passenger wagon. I come from a faimly of 7 children so the big wagon was a must. On the plus side when I went out with friends in high school I could fit alot of them in it.. LOL

'74 Ford Pinto. It was later crushed when a 50 foot, 400 year old oak tree decided to snap and fall on it. I may be the only person on the planet to have the first tree he climbed fall on top of the first car he ever drove.

First car I ever drove on a public road was in 1975, I was 11 and a neighbor let me drive is bright yellow and black VW Thing to the liquor store 1/2 mile away so he could buy more beer. He was a bit too wasted to drive himself or to realize he threw his keys to me. Got back home and my mom was fuming. She threatened to call the cops till she realized I would also get in trouble.

The car I learned to drive in, my brothers 1970 Porsche 914-6 GT. I also took the DMV driving test in it. Wish I had a picture of the DMV guys face.

My first car was actually two cars, a 69 Karmman Ghia that had been my dads when he passed and a 69 Firebird 400/TH400 nosebleed special I bought and tried to fix up..... yep, I was 16 and wrecked them both.

Learned to drive in a 77 Volare 4-door, Slant 6 auto. Passed the driver test, drove to school, did a neutral slam after school (trying to get a burnout...) and blew the trans.

My first car was a pickup truck. 74 Chevy C-10 heavy half longbed, dark green with white top. Shaved it and repainted, threw on some chrome mod wheels, and cruised. It had a 350 with an Erson cam, and was pretty fast for an old truck. Wish I still had it.

The first car that I owned was a '77 Plymouth Volare - bright orange coupe with a 318 / auto. You could watch it rust away in the driveway, but it was free (thanks, Dad!).

The car I learned to drive on was my mom's '79 Buick Electra (which we bought from my great-grandparents when Gramps had to stop driving). Sort of like taking the living room for a drive. But that Buick 350 would smoke the right rear wheel from stop sign to stop sign.

Aloha To All My Camaro Brothers, My first car was puchesed a year after I enlisted into the U.S. Army in June of 1977, it was a used 1976 Nova SS, Chevy Orange with Black trim, she was not much on speed but she sure looked good. Learned on a '49 Ford 2 Ton Grain Truck 4 speed flat head v8. Actually a 3 speed with bull low and ground off about 2 lbs of metal between shifts until learned how to double clutch (was only 9 yrs old at the time).

Drove dads '70 Duster when 1st got my lic (WOW what a light car and screamer - them 340s where one tough little engine) That would be the day my kid drove a car like that to school.

My first car was a '67 Acadian Canso with a 250 6cyl 2speed auto. That little bugger would pull away from the stock 283, 327 and 350s in the bigger chevs (unless they were done up then I didn't stand a chance).

Yup those were the days!! Heck I remember 10 sec Camaros being driven to High School back then. We even had a guy delivering Pizza's with a 13 sec 440 Commando.

What was the first car or truck that you owned and drove on the road??
67 Ranchero, had a 302 that I had to wipe spit on the points to get it to start and had 2x4 blocks of wood between the rear end and frame rails to raise it enough to clear the N50's. I was in 7th grade and we were poor :)

Question #2..
What was the car or truck you learned to drive in??
I really do not recall really. I assume it was some type of british car, most likely an MGB or A. My older brothers worked on a lot or britsh cars for people when I was growing up and I used to move cars for them and be the shop gopher since I was 8 or so. (They are about 10 years or so older than me)

I worked at Burger King to save up enough $$ to purchase a 1974 Camaro Typle LT with a 350 and a 4 speed in 1984. It was an automatic convertered to a four speed and the previous owner never got the shifter right but it was a simple fix, or at least I fixed it enough to break it. Another four speed later I was on the road again. It was totaled on my way to work at Burger King a year later (not my fault).

Learned to drive in my mom's '65 Comet 6 cyl. auto.

My first car was a red '70 Nova with a white interior, 3 on the tree with a 307. Little by little, paycheck by paycheck it got swapped out to a 275 horse 327, 4-speed, 4.11 rear. Pretty car. Wish I still had it.

The engine is still with me, a couple rebuilds older though. Come to think of it I still have the transmission too. :D

My first car I owned was 69 camaro 250 3 speed in the floor, a month later bought a 60's truck for $50.00, removed 283 w/4 barrel install in camaro, went to junk yard got a 4 speed out of a 70's vega install it. Would take it to Dunn/Benson dragstrip on weekends. Man that was fun.

Learned on my mom's 69 4 door impala 350/auto. First time she let me drive was in the dirt parking lot at Orange county speedway(Rougemont NC) after the race was over and every one had left. I was 13 my brother was 15 he taught me how to do donuts, that was a blast!

My first car was a 1959 Chevy Impala Convert. It was white with red interior and 327/power glide. It had 57 Chevy spinner hub-caps and dual glass-pack mufflers. I got it as soon as I got my first job right out of high school. I swore it would be the only convert I would own and it has been. I burnt up in the summer and froze in the winter. I only had it one year and traded it in on 1965 SS Impala 396. I traded the 65 in on my 1967 Camaro SS/RS that I still have.

I learned to drive in a 1962 Buick drivers-ed car in high school and dad’s 1958 Bel Air

My 69 camaro. lusted after it from the minute dad bought it in '70 and finally got to start driving it some when I was 14 . He would let me take it down to the gas station on Sunday Afternoon and put five or ten bucks of gas in it for him. I was king for an hour! It was my daily driver up until @ 1986-87

Tons of fun and memories in that car! I love it. I need to get off my a** and finish it!
