What's the best way/tool to flange an exhaust pipe to make a slip fit?
This winter I want to build my exhaust system. I have everything to do it but a method for making slip joints.

You can buy a tool to flare out the pipe I think Lilse makes them check at local parts house. When I need something flared I just take it to the local muffler shop they usually charge a few dollars.

AutoZone rents ya one.... or gives it to you for a deposit and then ya bring it back. Try Harbor Freight.

I have the harbour freight tool. You can have it for free if you can find all the pieces. They are scattered around the garage. You may need to replace a few of the stripped threads on some of the pieces. It was only used once. :D

I bought a piece of crap from Advance Auto. It lasted about 30 seconds before the threads stripped. I checked around the web and all the ads I see say those tools are just for smoothing out the pipe - not expanding it.
The exhaust shop would be an option but I don't want to make a zillion trips. I plan on fitting and welding each section as I go. I want the bloody thing perfect. I'm tired of leaks and shoddy, overpriced Monroe Muffler work. I've yet to find one that can weld better than a six year-old.
Chad - I'll check out Lisle.
In the mean time, any other ideas?
Just checked Lisle. They have a pipe stretcher for this purpose. Most everybody else only has the expanders. Chad, once again, thanks for the save! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Thanks guys,

I bought all the pieces from Dr. Gas and a chop saw. Last winter I made a system to my satisfaction.
